Hello guys.
Im buying a second hand 686-4 practical champiom serial number CAE08xx.
Id like manufacture dates if it possible. Is it a good revolver?

The M686-4 was made from 1993 to 1996. Serial # CAE was probable the last year, 1996. That is if the serial numbers run correctly for that model of revolver.

To answer the other part of your question, the 686 in any of it's variants is an excellent revolver.

Hey, ArchA,

The Practical Champion was a special run for an European distributor.
It has an unfluted cylinder, four position front sight, and stippled grips. Picture at:

There are several interesting guns that S&W sold abroad but did not offer in the home market.
