I have written several letters to Zell Miller and Saxby Chambliss about the AWB, its eventual death, and the potential for a more restrictive replacement. I cannot get a response from either. I did receive a response from Nathan Deal, my representative, but it was only a form letter on 2A issues, not a response to my question on the AWB. I did manage to speak to him on a radio show here in Gainesville, Georgia, and he he said that there were not enough votes for any kind of new legislation to pass. What is distressing is Miller's and Chambliss' decision to not respond. We need to organize now. This internet is a powerful tool. We spend all sorts of time online posting these messages. I am ready to give a great deal of time this year to this cause. I believe that if the legislature can push through another ban, we will see the eventual disarming of this people. Who will stand with me to birth a grass-roots movement in the Atlanta area that will inform the populace and put pressure on these politicians to do the right thing? Anyone here have any ideas on how we can proceed immediately? Ric Honsa 770 967 9182/770 595 6158 Gainesville, Georgia richonsa@hotmail.com

If you haven't already, you may want to look at www.awbansunset.com as they sometimes have letter drives...

Sometimes congresspersons just take a long time to respond to letters, mine almost always respond eventually... at the very least they should be tallying our letters, which will hopefully influence the way the rep votes. I have heard they consider one letter to represent the desires of several thousand of their constituients.

This is why I posted to begin with. I've done the letters, the emails, the phone calls, and I am not hearing back!!!??? The arrogance of these politicians MAKES ME SICK!!

Actually, Miller will not run for election, but he is not retired, yet. I believe he would vote against it, but it would be nice to hear from him.

Zell Miller responded to another THR member in a letter that he would vote against the assault weapons ban. Be patient! It can take a long time and many letters to get a response, especially an issue specific response. I'm glad to hear tha Chambliss is also against the ban.
