I have seen now that several people are listed from SE PA.

Anyone from the Harrisburg/York/Lancaster area?

Wondering if when spring hits, you might want to go to make a group outing to the range.

I belong to a small outdoor range with limited facilities in southern Lancaster county. Not much, but a functional place to get some shooting in.

I am looking for a good range in the area with some long ranges (200yd +) and an indoor pistol range. The only one that I know of has a country club atmosphere and I am not too keen on it.

I'm just north of Hershey. My club, Harrisburg Hunters & Anglers closed their 200 yd. range several years ago after encroaching suburbia moved downrange. The only club I'm aware of in this area with really long ranges is Starview over in York County, southeast of Manchester. I've stretched out my Sharps rifle to 500 yards over there as the guest of a friend who's a member. There is a waiting list for membership....I don't know how long.

We've got nice facilities here at HH&A , but no chance of hosting a shoot.....
very limited opportunities for non-members to shoot here. I can kind of see thier point, after shooting at more public style ranges and seeing how screwed up they can get.

How about Parkesburg? Not that far from Lancaster (proper).

No indoor range but they have a 500m rifle range.

I am a member at Millcreek and they have a nice outdoor range 25+ for handgun, 50 and 100 for rifle. They also have a small indoor range open on thur for rimfire and sun for non-mag handgun.

Also from Lancaster city
Atglen also has a waiting list.....

I have heard New Holland has a nice long range club somewhere but I have not found it.

I'm in Plymouth Meeting, near Philly. I'm only about 45 minutes to an hour from Lancaster.

The New Holland Rifle & Pistol Club has a very nice range that goes out to 600 yards, IIRC.

We could always go to one of the PGC ranges and just take the place over for a local shoot.

Hee, hee:D

Nah, I haven't used one of those for years. I hear they have magazine restrictions and all sorts of nonsense nowadays.

S central here (with slight bias to West ....... Bedford) .. so forgive the intrusion!! However ..... Chambersburg is only 70 from here .... and if Turnpike used, not that bad a run.

I was thinking on Sunday .. driving across to Philly .. Harrisburg, Lancaster, York etc .. really not too bad to reach from here - and vice versa.

So .... I am hoping that maybe some of you guys can come along if I get a late spring shoot fixed up. My club is outdoor, only 100 yds ........but covered FP, with three good solid benches. A number round about 10 to 12 would be no problem.

Soon as I can see ahead to try and fix a day - I'll post it.

There's a nice 500 yd covered rifle range called Water & Wings located about 10 miles west of Quakertown off of route 663. Probably 1.5 hours or so from Lancaster / York I'd guess. $10 to shoot all day, 17 station sporting clays range is also available for an additional charge. The pistol range has 4 benches and is set up for 7 - 25 - 50 yds.
Very nice place to play.

Whoa, local people... I just moved down to Fort Lauderdale, FL from Coatesville, about 5min north of rtes 10 and 30. I've been down here since may, and I'm going back home once my 1yr lease is up here in this Godforsaken state.

I may be making a move out to the Harrisburg/Mechanicsburg area once I get back, as my friend's PD is going to be hiring at the same time I get back to PA.

On a gun related note, I took my girlfriend to the range this past weekend for the first time, we chucked 2 100rnd boxes of whitebox .40's downrange through my MK40. It was the first time she's ever shot anything before. All I have to say is, WOW! She did incredibly well, definitely some talent there. Now she wants a G27 for xmas, even though I tried to talk her into getting a nice cheap Mak. :banghead:

Lebanon area, north of Lancaster, the Palymra gun club is an awesome site. 350 acres of land. Rifle range out to 200yds. indoor pistol range and archery range. About 30 to 40 shooting booths inside. Outdoor pistol range, bowling pins, metal plates, or normar targets. Outdoor twenty two range. Just a fantastic club. Not counting the clay pit areas.

just another spot to consider. Hey Alan Fud how in the world are you?

"Do you mean Johnstown over near me??!! In other words ..... Cambria or Somerset Counties.??"

friend of mine has a recovered strip mine near central city. nice guy and opens up a primitive range to 500 yds. usually get about 20 guys, sometimes for a campout, several times a year. last year's january shoot was sunny and 35* on 2' snow, but roger plows the road and sets up a bon fire, and we didn't notice the cold till after dark when the case of beer next to the fire froze hard. log into the falfiles and send him an e-mail. i'd bet you're welcome. use the search function on the files to find other mason/dixon events.

Alan Fud, two very active clubs near you are Ontelaulani Rod & Gun Club which has PA Steel League, IDPA, Trap and Rifle (www.ontelaunee.org) and Topton Fish and Game which has Archery, USPSA, PA Steel Leaue, Cowboy action, a 100 yd rifle (200 under construction),Trap. Also, Lehigh Valley Sporting Clays is a very nice course. For you York folks, The IWLA range south of York has an excellant USPSA program plus trap and rifle. New Holland ,in addition to the rifle to 600 yds, has covered 25 and 50 yd pistol ranges plus 5 other pits. They shoot High-power, CMP, and PA Steel league and have some indoor small bore events. Another great club is Palmyra Sportsman Assc, near Hershey,. They have archery, trap, pistol steel shooting, and are the home of the PSA Shootout.
