I bought a Taurus PT 609 Pro from Academy Sports on Black Friday.
Have not gotten to shoot it yet has anybody done the same and shot there's? How did it do? What's your likes and dislikes? Ammo choice etc.
Any info would greatly be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!!!!

I am not familiar with the 609 specifically, but if it is anything like the other millenium offerings, then it is a good gun... From what i have seen, they are not at all finicky with ammo and give very surprising accuracy at pistol ranges...

It being built in titanium is pretty sweet too!.

dogspit, might be able to help you. Specific gun might call for a gun specific forum.

Here's what I found.

The reason why I said the above is due to the PT 609 being a bit more rare and is somewhat under known or under appreciated.

I own the 609's cousin, the PT111 Mil Pro, and find it a excellent carry piece.

The 609 looks like a 24/7 in 9mm with a short slide and cut off grip. Interesting.

Do not buy Monarch. I bought 100 rounds when I bought the gun and it would jam every other fire. I have since switched to federal and winchester and have had not one jam in 500 rounds.

I bought one on black friday also. I just shot it for the first time last weekend. I had all kinds of trouble with it. It would jam just about every round. I was told that I was "bitch wristing" it so I tightened up my grip and wrist a little more and now it is doing better but I still have issues with it. It will eject the spent case but not fully load the next round. It happens maybe 1-2 times out of 20-30 rounds. I don't know if it is me or the gun. I am new at all this so I am learning as I go. Even though it is giving me problems, I still really like this gun. It was suggested to me to change the spring rate. I am going to look into that this weekend.

I got one too. I'm up to a 1,000 rounds. I've had a couple of minor problems.

I've had ZERO failures with any ammo other than Academy's Monarch. I never made it through the second box. Several fail to fire, feeding problems, that ammo is crap. I've fired Federal and Winchester ball, and some Magtech hollow points.

The only problems: The pin that holds in the lanyard ring backed out at about 300 rounds and cut me a little. Drove it back in and so far it's stayed put.

The second issue was a 1/8" vertical crack at top back of one of the magazines. I mailed it back to Taurus and they sent me a new one.

Shoots great, very reliable. Wish I had bought two.
