A stripped lower and a del-ton kit will buy you a rifle for around $500.

CMMG has rifles in the bargain bin for $600.

where do you get it that cheap? the delton kits seem to run 465, and lowers 100

Look at CMMG. Maybe Double Star.

Least expensive that I would recommend would be a Smith and Wesson M&P.

For an Entry level AR go with the Bargin Bins from CMMG.
i HAVE 2.
a 16" and a 20". both function flawlessly. These are great guns if you're going to simply use it for a range toy. If it's "life-dependent" buy the best you can. ;)

Another vote for the CMMG bargain bin.

You cannot beat it.

I like my rock river. Not really least expensive, but not at all pricey either.

Del-Ton kit, followed by CMMG BB rifles.

Delton's prices have gone up a bit, but lowers can be found for as little as $60.

A few dollars aside, don't forget you'll be spending hundreds of dollars on magazines and ammo, unless you don't plan on actually shooting your rifle. :)

A complete lower can be had from Surplusammo.com for $165 plus shipping. Without a buttstock, it's $125 plus shipping.

They can be had cheaper when you buy a package with a stripped lower and parts kit and install it yourself.

I probably should have gone this route on my build and bought an AP assembly.

But I bought a stripped RRA lower instead. If I hadn't paid shipping to several different places, the price difference would be small. But in the end, I probably paid $40 more than I needed to.

You can build a Spikes or BCM for sub $700. I wouldn't even consider CMMG or Del-Ton with such a slight difference in price.

Hummm CMMG normal price is around $1000. Not a cheap knock off AR.

Their bargain bins are put together from uppers and lowers left over from sales made through out the year.

I personally have friends (and myself) who have the CMMG BBs maybe a total of 8 Ars. We have had no problems with fit or finish on any of them. They have given no problems that I am aware of to their owners and are all accurate as any 16" Ar we have shot. No the guns are not shot 2500 a weekend but I think their owners would if someone gave them the ammo. They would not shoot to burn their barrel out though.

Two friends have Del-Tons an I have one myself. Again, fit and finish, accuracy and no problems with any of them. Del-ton has a life time guarantee. CMMG does also but not for their bargain bins. Never knew anyone who had a problem with them though.

I have never had or known anyone with an Olympic AR but a few of my friends say, "stay away" and they are usually right. However just rumor and innuendo.

Is a straight comparison of the merits of many ARs. Well written and easy to follow.

Cold Hand Arms has complete Del-ton kits (including the lower) for $499 currently. Not sure how long that will last.

And the website shows they are sold out. One less temptation for me to fret over.

+1 on the BCM build, tier one quality, for about the same price of the crap that you can buy off the shelf.

If CMMG, they list bargain bin guns all the time.

You missed out on the S&W M&P15OR deal for $600 from CDNN a couple months ago. Mine shoots under MOA.

I concur on the stripped lower and Del-ton Kit. That is what I did and I didn't spend very much at all on the basic rifle.
