Anyone know of a range sponsoring CMP Rimfire Sporter matches in NC? I would like to take my 11 year old with me. I think he would enjoy the competition, but I can't find anyone locally doing it.

I know they have matches at the CMP games at Camp Butner, and we're planning to go then (I shot in the Vintage Rifle match last year and had a great time).

Any help would be appreciated.

I think your son would also enjoy smallbore silhouette shooting. Check with your local clubs to see if they have silhouette programs and also do a net search.

Rockingham Co. Gun Club (http://www.rockinghamcountygunclub.com/index.html) has RF monthly matches. I don't know if they are CMP or just fun/club shoots.

Now that I think of it, the Asheville club has a rimfire program. A few years ago I went to smallbore silhouette matches there. Also check out the Charlotte club, it is is quite active.

You might check at the CMP site, odcmp.com and ask on Rimfire Shooting. That board is run out of my home club in Alabama but gets posts and readers from all over.
