Took a while, but I finally put together a rig like I had when I was 17 back in the day.

Nice to finally have the project finished!

1968 Single Six, 4 5/8" in a vintage Lawrence rig, belt and holster.

Gorgeous. What was your main use for it back then? I know CAS wasn't around when I was 17.

Very nice looking rig you've got there, especially with the not-so-common 4 5/8" Single Six. I've always liked the design and quality of Lawrence holsters. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks

When I was 17 my best friend and I both got Ruger SS's, and after school we'd stop a 7-11, buy three boxes of .22 Long's (cheaper than LR), drive out to the rice fields on the edge of town and plink.

We must've shot thousands of rounds without a single mishap, accident, ND, or close call. (And knew nothing about the "empty cylinder").

Had to give all the money for the rare, 4 5/8" barrel gun, but it was worth it.

We were diligent about the quarter-cock, safety feature, but I guess we were lucky.

And we got very, very good with them.

My rig was stolen about 5 years later, and I've missed it ever since.

And, no, I can't shoot well with it anymore.:o

When I turned 21, I bought a 4 5/8" Super Single Six with the extra magnum cylinder. At the time I didn't have enough money for a Lawrence holster and belt, but I did find an inexpensive leather rig that had .22LR cartridge loops on it. It was a great set-up and I used to take that outfit with me every time I went out into the fields.

cool!!

Do you still have it?

I bet the holster was a "Hunter". Not as expensive as a Lawrence, but still got the job done.
