Well, that didn't work! :cuss:

Berry .38 Spl 148 grain HBWC

Tried loading them backward over 4.5 grains Unique.

Shot into water jugs at 7 yards from 4" barrel Colt.
Impact on the jugs was spectacular on the front jug, splitting it in half and makeing it jump off the table.
Penetration, not so much!
Bullets were recovered in second jug in this condition.

Not exactly the 3/4" expansion I had hoped for.
And used to get with swaged lead HBWC!

Although I still would not want to be shot with one for sure!

I shot some more at 25 yards.
Best I can say for accuracy is, I kept them on the pistol target, mostly.
And I didn't get any keyholes out of six rounds.

That would flat leave a bruise. Probably make a big hole going in. Hurts just thinking about it.

Cool experiment though!

Thanks for posting (with pix even)

This is the only thing silly I have done with a HBWC lately. Hand cycles fine. Haven't shot any yet. :uhoh:

Well, that didn't work!
Sure didn't. Just came apart instead of expanding like the soft lead HBWC's do. Too brittle I guess.

Might try on a paper target. We used to do .38 WC backwards which caused them to tumble and broadside the target. Also made for interesting stares from the RM :)
