I have been shooting my TRG-42 (.338LM) for about 4200rds, every one of them logged and the gun very well cared for. It is going to be time for a new barrel soon; does anyone on here have experience getting a TRG re-barreled? If so what do they suggest? If Zak Smith from DEMIGOD LLC is on board; I'd REALLY like to hear your take on this -Not to lessen the validity or weight of others who are kind enough to offer advice.

From what I have seen the barrels that SAKO uses are very very good, if you were satisfied with the results of the stock barrel you could see how much money it will cost to have SAKO re-barrel it for you..... well that and how long it will take.

Otherwise I am sure that Krieger, Broughton, Rock, or Satern Custom machining can make you a great barrel in a cut rifled unit. Lilja, Hart, Shilen, or Pac-Nor can probably meet your needs if you are looking for a button rifled barrel. I am sure I missed someone's favorite, so others can chip in.

I have been looking to have my barrel replaced since I have an older TRG 42 with the 1:12 twist. Seems that APA is a good place to send your TRG. He can offer the top end barrel makers of your choice.

Not many smiths offer work on the TRG because they use metric threads.

I would contact Sako and have them do it, they built the rifle.

GAP precision. They should be able to set you up with a nice bartlein or mike rock in whatever twist you want. I know lots of guys who send in all kinds of rifles to these guys, and not one has ever been let down.

My friend - whose TRG-42 I used in the TRG/AWSM article - just had his rebarreled locally by Chanlynn with a 9 or 10 twist to shoot the new 300 grain bullets. The default answer is GAP unless there is someone you specifically know and trust to do it.

On the TRG, you have to make sure the barrel is not too thick if you intend to use the SAKO bipod.
