So, I'm in the gunshop that's five minutes from my house. Just looking around--talking "gunshop talk" to friends. This guy comes in and says, "I'd like to buy some A-Zoom snap-caps for my new .357 Mag snub". The owner reaches up and gets a pack of .38 Special snap-caps and says, "We're out but these will work juuust fine"! Big smile. The dumba...er. "customer" says, "You trying to rip me off? I ASKED for .357 MAGNUM snap-caps".
Perplexed, the shop owner tries to explain that the .38 special snap-caps are the same size in diameter, just a little shorter in OAL. The customer leaves in a "huff" saying, "I'll NEVER come back in HERE"! We all just looked at each other. Nobody even laughed. It was...I don't even know the word for this. Sheesh.

The gun shop owner should have explained to him that 38 is bigger than 357. He was making out like a bandit, duh!

Some people just look for reasons to complain.

Holiday Greeting's To All-

Hey KR, maybe that dude' was caught up in the
spirit of the holiday's. Like his ole'lady might have
given him that snubby for Christmas; and he was
worried about how much he was going to have to
spend on that new diamond ring?

I would have just laughed it off; and tried to sell
him another firearm! :uhoh: If he spent the wifey's
cash on a new 'arm; I don't believe that would have
gone over real well. :neener:

Best Wishes,

Everyone knows those dinky little .38 snap caps just don't have the power of a full house .357 magnum snap cap. :D

Well you know, those 38 Snap Caps have been known to cause cylinder etching in 357 revos.

But the .38 special snap caps have almost NO recoil or muzzle flash and that's very important in a snubby.

Granted I had some really good customers...I don't miss Retail. I'm a good customer but hate to shop.

I'd had to bit my tongue and control the urge to take some spent .357 brass, de-prime and using the "plug" material from a tire patch kit, insert and trim with razor blade. We made our own growing up. These have to worth -what?- $5 a pc , with MY labor and all...

The customer is always right...does not mean the merchant is wrong.

We didn't laugh and it was a quiet as a graveyard in that store. Everyone of us just stared at the door and watched the guy drive off---after spinning his tires. Then we just looked at each other. Finally, the shop owner just shook his head. No more was said. I really think everybody was kinda embarrassed by the pure stupidity we had witnessed. I almost didn't post it.

Another reminder that common knowledge and common sense AREN'T.

If gunstores weren't habitually struggling in the first place, I'd say, "Good riddance."

I got a smile out of the replies, but being in the company of one who shows such pure, unadulterated stupidity embarrasses me.

Goes to show how much the few can lift up the many. I'm frequently amazed at the general lack of quality in the "average" person when witnessing the wonders man has created.

The only reason I can even think of needing a .357 snap cap would be for drills in a .357 automatic, which the only two I know of are the Coonan and the Desert Eagle but I'm sure there's more.

You couldn't have told him that these were 'special' hot-load .38 +P+ snap caps??
