Single-stack Polymer 9mm choices?

Hi Everyone,

I haven't bought any new guns for awhile now and don't know everything out in the market anymore. I was hoping people could chime in with options for a single-stack, polymer 9mm with a full firing grip without mag or grip extensions. For comparison, the Sig P239 would be the absolute shortest grip length I can get all my fingers on board (this one can pinch if I don't move my pinky out of the way during mag changes). The Glock 19 is pretty close to the ideal length, but without the mag plate length sticking out the bottom, so something ever so slightly shorter would be good. Anything like that on the market?

I am open to any manual of arms, barrel length (longer the better), etc. This will be for IWB CCW. Thanks!

I'm not a hardcore Glockophile, but it is really hard to beat a Glock 19 for IWB carry. If you're using a proper carry rig, that 1/4" floor plate shouldn't become the make it/break it factor, even for a small person.

if the cw9 is too short, try the tp9.

Sure sounds like you're talking about the Kahr CW9 to me

that 1/4" floor plate shouldn't become the make it/break it factor

I think he only included the G19 grip length to give perspective to the frame length he was limited to. It sounds like his main concern is grip thickness

Kahr P9 works for me. I can get my full hand on the grip. The Kahr TP9 has a longer grip. The Kahr mags have a finger rest, but you can put a flat base on the mags.

I like a grip sleeve on the poly Kahrs, but it isn't needed by any means. Very slim, easy to conceal guns.

CW9 - good gun and a good price. I just picked mine up Sunday. I can get a full grip on it . I have xl hands and the trigger is pretty smooth for a dao gun. I recommend it.

A CW9 is essentially a DA-only Glock, IMHO. The gun the big G should be making...

Wow, seems like I will have to check out the CW9 and others in the Kahr line! I appreciate all the suggestions.

I have a G19 which I do/did carry IWB. The size isn't really the issue. It's the weight.

I recently injured my back and it will take some time to heal completely. I can still CCW the G19 but it feels heavy at times, and I'm used to carrying 4" S&W N-Frames.

Right now I've been carrying a 15 oz. S&W 442. Seems like the perfect weight. It seems like the CW9 is very close in weight to the 442 unloaded. It's definitely on my short list to check out. Thanks!

I'll throw in another vote for a Kahr CW9/P9.

I happen to prefer steel, and .40cal, so my carry is the K40 and I love that gun. The polymer models are thinner in the grips as well, so that's a plus for carry.

...especially when dealing with a tweaked back. That was the major reason I went from IWB to OWB carry...you could hear my back let out a sigh of relief

Yep CW9. Ive owned 2(first one was stolen). These carry way better IWB than any Glock.

This is me(5'6" 155lb) carrying my CW9 at 3 o' clock with a cheap $10 nylon IWB holser

Why not .....another vote for the Kahr CW9 or P9. These are great pistols and the CW is one hell of a value.

CW9, here as well. I've carried double stack 9mms. But the CW9 has changed that (22 ounces) fully loaded. Like one poster stated, the gun glock should be making. Good luck with your search.

Cummon Idaho, you were just looking for an opportunity to show off your pecs. Admit it.

Geez I need to go to the gym.

If you are open to aluminum frame vs. polymer, check out a used S+W 39-series. They are small, thin and light but still give you enough handle to hold without any pinching.

I agree with JimPHL on the S&W 39 series, specifically the 3913 would be a nice choice :D

how does a cw9 shoot? compared to say, a g19 and or keltec pf-9?

The S&W 39 series are nice guns, no doubt, but is more akin to the slightly larger Kahr TP9, though the Kahr is thinner and weighs about 7 ounces less. Both pack 8+1 rounds. I admit I prefer the S&W trigger and hammer to the Kahr trigger and striker.

Both good guns for concealment.

I'll see your S&W 3914 and raise you a Springfield EMP...which is the same size as the CW9

I would say my CW9 is a bit more accurate than my G19...but them I'm usually more accurate with a longer DA trigger on a lighter gun. I've only tried a friend's Kel-Tec and would say the Kahr's trigger is multiple levels smoother

Bersa's BP9cc is supposed to be out early next year. It's single stack polymer. Been waiting to see one for about a year.

I liked the S&W 39 I foolishly sold many years ago. Looking for a replacement for it I settled on the Ruger SR9. That was the first plastic pistol I've ever had and can say I really like it. Slim, a great grip and hasn't missed a beat in 500 rounds so far. The striker trigger wasn't the greatest but adequate. I eventually put in a Ghost Rocket trigger connector and now this is a really nice full sized 9mm. It's slimmer than a Glock and to me a better looking firearm with the plus that it's made in the USA.
