The only thing my dad has asked for this Christmas is a .22 Magnum pistol suitable for concealed carry. I can't seem to find such a thing. Does this even exist? I know they make a lot of small revolvers, but he specified he wants an automatic. Maybe I'm just no good at searching for pistols, but I just can't find one. Does anybody know if such a thing is made?

Please do NOT turn this into a thread discussing the merits of the .22 Mag as a carry round. I also think the round is less than optimal. It's what he wants, though, so please try to help.

You're looking for a rare bird. The only .22 mag auto's I know of are the AMT Automag, the Keltec Grendel, and the new Keltec PMR-30, or w/e it's called. None of them are particularly small.

I know you want a pistol. But as the previous poster said except for finding a used AMT or the new Kel Tec I don't know. Both are big guns so for CCW I don't know. Have you thought about one of the little J-frame sized revolvers?
Most of them hold 7-10 rounds depending on the model. No less than Bill Jordan thought a .22 Magnum J-frame made a perfect back up gun. Said the .22 Magnum did damage way out of proportion to it's size. He would know if anyone does. Good luck finding somethingthat will work for you.

I know its not an auto but S&W makes a scadnium framed 7 shot revo in .22 mag with rosewood grips called the 351 PD iirc there is also the NAAs 5 shot derringer.

I figured it a pistol in this caliber would be rare because of the rimmed cartridge. I suppose I'll just tell my dad he's practically asking me to get him a unicorn for Christmas and he will have to go with something else.

North American Arms makes various barrel length mini revolvers in .22 magnum. They are small and easily concelable. I suggest checking out their website.

The Keltec/Grendel (Owner of KT designed the Grendel P30) is the only thing I can find in the new market that is semi-auto and .22wmr.

I'd ask for clarification, since a compact semi-auto in this caliber is a snipe hunt if I've ever seen one.

Check gunbroker for a used Llama .22 It's a small 1911 style semi auto.

I am pretty fond of the .22 magnum round,..but if your father is absolutely set on that particular round,..and it has to be small and concealable,..I'd go with the S&W revolver,...I doubt he'd regret it any. Some years back,..I had a S&W 651 in a 4 inch barrel. It was one of the best shooting handguns I ever owned. I regret very much ever letting it go.

these PMR30 keltecs are NICE.. but maybe too big a pistol for his use

If he is just looking for a small low recoiling auto, you might suggest he get a .32 auto. I too have been thinking about a .22 mag, but looking at a J frame S&W. I had one of the NAA Mini Revolvers and loved to shoot it. Just hated the slow reloading part of it. It was accurate enough for self defense, but not a target gun.

The North American Arms mini-revolvers are all I can think of. (A revolver is still a pistol, just a different kind. ;)) The Black Widow actually has some appeal as a backup gun. http://naaminis.com/bwmm.html I doubt if this is what he has in mind, though.

Isn't the 5.7x28mm round pretty close to .22WMR? You might be able to talk him into that, though the FN 5.7 isn't exactly a small pistol.
