Is there such an animal? I have a 30mm on my Mitchell that works very well (a Blazer), but it throws off the perfect balance of the pistol. I'd like to replace it with a smaller lighter red dot, but I don't want to spend $150. I see alot of them advertised for 30-40 bucks, and I'm almost sold. It's just going on a 22, not a handcannon. Any suggestions?

Okie ....... this one might be of use ... I slapped this on the SAR1 (excuse the fugly Mak 90 stock - but it makes the gun fit better) ..... it is a real ''cheapie'' .... I have had several, both 20mm and 30mm from Sportsmans Guide .... they have them from time to time.
Now they are cheap!! I do not expect much from them but ..... for plinking they are not too bad .. don't expect miracles, and even so you may get a lemon . send it back. However, for around the $30 mark .... I think they are OK for ''fun'' shooting.
Folks on the AK boards seem to have good luck with the Millet red dots for an inexpensive choice.

7.62 .... indeed, Millets are pretty good and not bad value but .. at around the $100 mark, not what I'd call ''cheapie's'' .... that's why I mentioned the above.
If budget runs to it tho ... then that is a good way to go. I have one on each of my SRH's.

I've considered the Millets, but I kinda go back and forth on the price tag. I sat down the other day and made a list of all the accessories that I need to buy before I purchase another firearm, so I'm trying to get out as cheap as possible. Those from the Sportman's Guide are the ones I've been looking at, and if they can handle a SAR, I figure they can handle a 22.
