Ladies and Gentlemen, I need some help. I cannot for the life of me figure out the “Frightening Inadvertent Revelation” hidden in this article.

Is it basic competence? Or that such things are possible? Or is it that men can talk of such things without wetting their pants?

Nobody ever told them the bit about rough men protecting them while they sleep.

Maybe they expected the Taliban to be defeated by Staurt Smalley.

It's a revelation to those who do not realize just how cold and uncompromising most of the world is.

Maybe they found out that we can shoot somebody in a war zone:scrutiny:

SOF is covering the war, SOF readers probably knew who Osama Bin Laden was before 9-11, etc.

... we now know that there are men who sit around comparing great moments in killing the way the rest of us talk about Carlton Fisk’s home run against the Cincinatti Reds in the sixth game of the 1975 World Series. And we know that they are the good guys. There's the “Frightening Inadvertent Revelation” they mention. Sheeple can't get used to the idea that some people just need killing.

Yes, while it's lampooned in the media as a rag for psychos and wannabes, they actually have some damn good reporting from conflict zones.

Some people live in warm little cocoon, but you'll notice the article does end with the words:

"And we know that they are the good guys."

So maybe the light came on.

I just finished reading a book about Carlos Hathcock. I think the title was "Sniper", but not sure. I packaged that book up along with some other stuff and mailed it to Iraq to some GI's that Mama06 gave me the names of.
I also just heard that Mr. Hathcock passed on. I don't know if that was recently or not, but I was reading an article about great shooters and the author was pictured with Carlos and it mentioned that he had passed, but didn't say when.

I concur with Mark Tyson's comments, as well as all of the previous comments.

I thought he was going for an ironic "so-called good guys are really killers" bit, but perhaps you are right.

That would be nice, anyway.

Grampster,
Mr. Hathcock passed away February 23, 1999 due to complications of Multiple Sclerosis.

I knew who Osama Bin Laden was but not from SOF.

I'd suggest that journalist visit there and see there aren't some people worth killing.

Anyone who watched the Iran-Contra hearings and saw Col. Oliver North's testimony knew who Bin Laden was before 9/11.
