The Wilderness 1 1/2" polymer lined Instructor belt
1 pair Royal Robbins 5.11 Tactical pants
Photon microlight III (blue)
Bunch of tools (some useable for working on guns, a basic toolset so I'll stop using Dad's and forgetting to put them back)
Craftsman tool bag (supposed to be for the tools from above, but its perfect for a new range bag)
Pots, pans, cooking stuff, toaster (non-Armalite), etc (I'm graduating from college in May)
Wind&water proof fleece-insulated vest (perfect for CCW cover garmit, when I get a permit).
Bunch of other stuff: a DVD, cash, gift certificate, etc

A NIB Bearcat for my son. It was manufactured in 1996, the same year he was born.

Yeah, really, it's his. Sure, I took it to the range and shot it before I gave it to him, but only to make sure it functioned perfectly. Three times--gotta be sure :D.

But the best gift for me has been both of us have time off from school/work to spend together, and today was our fifth day shooting this week.

December 28, 2003, 02:21 AM
As noted in the Shotguns forum, Mrs. Drang got me a Mossberg 500 Persuader (12 ga., 20' barrel.)
My Parental Units got us each a set of electronic muffs, the ones on sale @ Midway, and some cash--at least some of the cash is going for ammo. (A couple, three bandoleers of Danish 30-06 in Garand clips, at least.)
I got Mrs. Drang a copy of RL Wilson's new book Silk and Steel, (although the tom,cat allegedly signed the tag:p) and the complete "Emma Peel Years" of The Avengers. She got me the complete Firefly on DVD.:D
Not gun related, but tres cool naytheless, is the nifty meerschaum Mrs. Drang got me, sort of a Dublin shape with a rampant eagle crouching on the shank.

My father renewed his range membership. :)

He's been threatening to drop it because he'll be 82 next month and he's been having periods of numbness in his arms and hands from degenerating disks in his neck. He likes shooting handguns and it makes it sort of hard some days. Of course, his favorites are a tad heavy - a 6" Python and an 8 3/8" Model 17 with a scope.

Bonus Present -
The day after Christmas we made the annual holiday trip to his local gun store - 4 blocks. After looking at a pile of bricks of .17 HMR he got the salesman to show him a couple of Anshutz rifles. He's thinking about getting one, but might go with a .22 instead. I'll do some looking around here and then tell him to go buy one because the prices weren't too bad. Now, if I can just convince him to get the 17xx series and not the 15xx. I think the trigger on the 17xx will make the sale. He can afford it.

I think what started all this was sitting in the den Christmas day fooling with a Leupold 3x-9 EFR I had with me. He hadn't seen it before and was suitably impressed with what he could see with it.

Seems like Santa has spread his generosity and good cheer quite widely and nicely!

I sorta cheat ... cos my Late November December was a tad heavy on ''aquisitions''! But Xmas itself ... well (and apologies, I have posted this before) .... my dear wife sorta ''covered'' some ammo bought a week ago at gun show ... it should be enough for one day out at least!:p

I asked my potential Pollyanna (sic) for Win White Box .223 and .45ACP, and facetiously, added "a Class 3 ticket, please".

Pollyanna, divulging her identity Christmas day said she didn't know how to provide the Class 3 and, dropping the standard $25 in my hand, asked "What's two-two-three and forty five ACP?".

Guess I have an education program to work out, huh?

Daughter & Grandkids chipped in for a Kodak digital camera, so soon's I figure out the bells and whistles maybe I can find a way to post a GUN picture. (There's the qualifier, staff.)

1000 rounds of .22

I usually don't make out nearly this well on guns. I think I've received (counting the above) 6 guns as Christmas presents over my life (including the requisite Red Ryder when I was a kid :) ). This year though, Big 5 (a western states sporting goods store) had too good of prices on the above guns for my family to resist. And one of them is technically a birthday present, but as I mentioned in another thread, because my birthday is a week before Christmas, I can't quite convince anyone not to mix my presents together. :)

The closest thing to being firearm related was a wind meter from Radio Shack. The wife and I were getting Home Depot cards from just about everybody so we can finish up our long-running renovations to our home. The in-laws asked what I wanted for a small gift so we'd have something to unwrap.

Now I just have to start shooting well enough that doping the wind will actually make a difference. :neener: Snort, a wind meter. At least none of them is gunnie enough to know the absolute height of arrogance I displayed by asking for one. :D

I also got a pair of Motorola GMRS/FRS mini-talkies from the wife. She was all  as to why I wanted them, but it was fun listening to all the kids in the neigborhood with their christmas walkie-talkies broadcasting on the licensed GMRS frequencies and PO'ing the delivery services, courriers and HAM's off. :D

As a Libertarian, my sympathies are mixed, I feel for both the kids and the "pros" who jumped through the FCC hoops and use the radios's correctly. I suspect 99% of the people who buy them don't even realize that they're only supposed to use the FRS channels untill they've been licensed...

I also got a wireless broadband router, since my new work laptop has built in 802.11b. I can now surf THR from bed, or the couch, or whenever the wife insists on putting on MTV shows, "reality shows", American Idol, anything on Lifetime, or anything else I can't stand...
