Which dewey rod do I need for an AK47? Do I need to buy any accesories with it? Will the same rod work for an ar-15? Thanks for any information.

you need their 30 cal. rod, since it's a 7.62. Rod for AR would be a .22 rod, same as you'd use for a rimfire.

Dewey rods are great. Worth every penny.

i use a coated 22-cal rod for all my cleaning duties - including guns that are far from 22 cal...

the rods don't come w/ a brush, so if you use brushes, you'll have to buy them seperately.

i really like dewey rods, too.

The idea of using a rod that is close to the diameter of your bore is that you #1 won't bend the rod if you have a tight patch and #2 it will theoretically prevent the rod from slapping the sides of the barrel and impregnating it (the rod) with grit. Take that for what it's worth.

Be aware that your AK will probably scratch up the rod coating a bit if cleaning it from the breach. Mine did....seemed to rub on the rear of the reciever. I much prefer to use the Otis cleaning kit on my AK's.

The Dewey rods also make great playtoys when you're bored. We've had contests to see who can make the red handle spin the longest. With a light drop of sewing machine oil you can get it to spin for nearly a minute without stopping.

I've got too much time on my hands.:)
