schadenfreude

I went out the day after Christmas and returned a knife I got. I ended up buying a nice Al-mar but more importantly I got the Lansky system.
I use the scary sharp system with my marples chisels but can never get the proper angle with a knife. This is an easy and effective kit. All I added were the serrated hones, a nice strop I had for my chisels, and a steel that I use in the kitchen.
I sharpened all my pocket knives and have my brother bringing his over on Monday.
They all shave hair like a razor but cut through rope like butter as well. I used the 25ยบ angle for all of them. It's really nice as you can really feel the steel and easily check under for the wire. I know there are some better systems out there as well as the satisfaction of doing it freehand on a stone but if you want an easy way out this is great and cheap.
I suspect that when I get to larger blades I will need to constantly move the blade in the holder. I think if I were to reach too far out to the side it would change the angle of the stone.
Any tips or tricks from anyone that's done this longer than I?
Thanks
