Saying they feared government snooping against ordinary Americans, U.S. senators voted on Thursday to block funding for a Pentagon computer project that would scour databases for terrorist threats.

the computer dragnet being developed could not be deployed without congressional approval, although it allowed exceptions for national security.

Given how everything is done for "security" these days I wouldn't be too happy at the moment.

Don't think for a minute that funding isn't available somewhere.

The Gov't still denies the existance of the Area 51/Groom Lake facility, doh!

Considering that the TIA proposal has had a popularity rating somewhere between the "Janet Reno Swimsuit Calendar" and broccoli fudge ice cream, I'm actually not too surprised. ;)
