Rear Sight for .303 SMLE

I have an Australian .303 SMLE Mk1 No III that doesn't have a rear sight on it but I do have a spare rear sight. The barrel is a heavy barrel. Can anyone tell me how to mount the sight and if I need a speacial rear sight that fits the heavy barrel?
