I have recently aquired this rifle from my FIL. I'd like to know if anyone could give me and idea of it's age and value.
Browning BAR II Safari, Semi Auto, .308
No scope, doesn't look as if it's ever had a scope mounted to it.
I enjoy my hand guns but this is new ground to me so any help is greatly appreciated,

Here's some pics, I have many more if someone needs a shot of something specific.

The BAR MK II began production in 1993 and sold new for around $650-700. I see them at show priced around 500-800 depending on model and condition. The ones with the BOSS system seem to bring a bit more.

Whenever my dad see's a hunter come into deercamp with a BAR, he always says, "Now there is a serious deer hunter." He's killed a bunch of North Carolina whitetail over the years with his BAR 30-06 that he got new back in the 70's. A damn bunch.

My FIL has been giving my guns for a few years now as he's getting older, I doubt I'll keep this .308 for long as I'm not a hunter or rifle person, I'll probably be looking to sell or trade towards a xd 40sub and an lcp

Laughin'. He should have held onto it.

Is that a 20" barrel or 22"? If you're looking to sell it let me know what you want for it. I want a BAR LW stalker in 308 real bad but if I could get a decent price on a Safari I just might go that route.

I don't hunt but my BAR MKII Safari in .270 WIN isn't going anywhere. What a joy to shoot.

No reason to laugh Abel, I don't really have the space or the time to enjoy a rifle like this. I do have a nice 50' range set up in the back yard that I get plenty of time to play on.

Right now I carry a series 70 gov't, I'd like something I could pocket carry at work, hence the use for a lcp, the XD has always been a want of mine.
