Why would anyone fly? The list of innocent items that will get you undue attention from the TSA keeps growing....

More Items To Avoid If You're Flying December 29, 2003 Some Hand Lotions May Be Detected As Explosives
(KMOX, St. Louis)--If you're travelling by air this holiday season, don't panic if you're stopped because explosive materials are detected on your personal effects.

If you wear hand creme containing glycerine, take note. There's a chance traces of glycerine can be detected as explosive material by airport security equipment on items you've handled.

Airport Security Director Bill Switzer also advises golfers to clean the heads of their clubs before sending them through airport security. He says fertilizers used on golf courses may also be detected as explosive substances.

You know what's pathetic about all of this is that we have to worry more about pleasing the TSA than terrorists

Parker, agreed, sad.

That "click" was the sound of our rights being highlighted and the delete feature.

Maybe it is because I had a copy of 1984 returned, but I can't help but wonder how the Airlines "really" feel about this. Is the ultimate goal for the State to not only control the Airline business but flat "own it"?.

Papers Citizen...you may not board. State does not recognize "your" business at that destination.

We have Saddam Hussein in custody. Norman Mineta is still on the loose.

Boy, do I feel dumb... I've got a carry-on bag that always gets singled-out for the sniff test (or more) at airline security, and I could never figure out why. But, as the original question suggests, it's the same carry-on I use for transporting a handgun (in its case) on car trips out west. And this is a relatively clean gun, with the ammo in a separate case, I think. Must be some pretty sensitive machines.

Monkey wrenching an entire airport by tweaking the security sniff would be childsplay.

i am amazed it has not happened yet.

Mayhaps the boogieman is hibernating.
Mayhaps he is a useful myth.
