Hi every one I am new to BP, I have a peitta 1858 .44 and 1858 .36 also 3 extra cylinders for each gun. I purchased them from cabelas. The wife and me went to the range on sunday, lots of fun, that first shoot, the sound and smoke put a smile on my face like a kid lighting his first fire cracker, every shot fired, I loaded the .44 with 25gr lubed wads & .454 balls, nothing on top #10 remington caps. The .36 17gr, lubed wads, nothing on top and #10 remington caps. I lubed the cylinder pins with canola oil right before we started shooting. the guns did great, fowling was less then I expected, I did wipe down the cylinder pins after 18 rounds and re lubed them with canola oil. The .44 shot a little low, an easy fix. I only shot the .36 the last 6 rounds and it is shooting low and to the right. I have been reading about trying different loads before using a file or any of the other fixes for windage, The wads for the .36 are a very tight fit, would the have a effect on poi. Thank You.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your guns. Sounds like you had a grand time.

The tightness of the wads should have no impact on point of impact.

great name, and I'm certain your a Eastwood fan, with all those extra cylinders you can learn to speed load as Clint did in the movie, careful!!! caps can ignite from just a little tap ,try conical buffalo bullets with 30 grain pyrodex pistol pellets,no wad bore butter over the bullet, cci magnum caps a great load about 960 fps mv with a 190 grain buffalo bullet ACCURADE AND POWERFUL LOAD:cool::cool:

Thanks for the info on the wads mykeal, Iíll just try some different loads and get use to the guns before I start putting a file to anything. andrewstorm you got the name thing, couldnít really call myself clint or preacher, and with my experience I'm more of a tinpan besides i use to be into prospecting. I have been thinking allot about trying those pellets and will probable get around to it at some point as well as the buffalo bullets, as for the caps the range i go to you have to place them on at the line. I did have some of the cylinders loaded about 3 weeks prior to going to the range and they all fired fine. Cabellas just put the .31 pocket on sale for $199 so I ordered one today, should have it tuse going back to the range wed. Thanks for the response I have learned allot from this forum, what a great hobby
