Alright, we talked about the gun stuff we got for Christmas, did anyone treat themselves to or receive any non-gun stuff? Knives? Lights? Packs? SHTF goods?
I wanted to get myself a Strider, but they're sold out. I'm taking myself to a Pat Rogers/Steve Tarani class at the end of January instead. Didn't get the Camelbak BFM which I kind of wanted since I'm waiting on next year's black model. So I guess I got myself stuff but they're all going to be months late :p

hso gave me a groovy CRKT Corkum First Strike, a worthy replacement for the Corkum Shobu I gave Marko Kloos...
Well, I scored a new SureFire G2 - finally have a light, and now I want more. Any of y'all who dont have a good tac light, get one - I was stupid to not get one for myself before now.
And the Paladin Press reprint of the WWII Naval Hand to Hand Combat (V5) Manual - excellent, excellent book. Has some material that is somewhat ahead of its time, more akin to the things we've added to those war-time basics covered by applegate/fairbairn - definately as must have an item as Kill or Get Killed and Get Tough for practical hand to hand work.
Knife work is also more straight forward and workable for a realistic variety of situations than a lot of the A/F material.
I also gave some gifts in this arena - for my mom I got a Benchmade Rescue Hook and a Kershaw Leek.
I modified the recuse hook so the rounded arm infront of the hook is tapered on the end to slide between the plastic seals and the valve on her oxygen bottles and cut them off, so she can use the o2 key int he handle to turn the bottles on - and the Leek is because with arthritis in her hands she cant open her thumb-stud openers anymore, and the speed-safe + flipper gives her usable one hand opening method.
Gave my dad a Koppo palm stick, and a "half cane" (think Escrima stick with a cane crook on the end) that I made.
Was a good tactical holiday season ;)

New set of Remington insulated bibs. Muy cool.

KMKeller - nice knife. Hope its the high carbon steel model ;) - Stainless ones arent bad, I have one of the fully flat-ground models in stainless that I like a lot, but the high carbon just makes it superb. Either way, congrats on a way cool gift. The DH Russell belt knife is one of the most distinct and functional working designs of the last 100 years - on par with the Loveless Drop Point, IMNSHO.
One of the originals, from the 50's, is housed in the Museum of Modern Art's permanent collection.
Very cool knives.

Tam, Glad you like the CORKUM/CRKT. I was very impressed with it's construction and cutting ability and am still struggling with how they produce the thing with real ray skin and hand tied cord grip for the price.
Other than the Peltor Tac 6 electronic ear muffs my wife gave me some great kitchen/cooking gear (ain't lists great:D ) which included one of the conical Perfect Beakers, an F. Dick Multihone Steel, heavy steel locking tongs, and the uber Braun Stick Blender set. I had all the "essentials", but wanted new convenience toys. Man, will our weight sky rocket until I get all the 'new' worn off these (mmm, egg whites whipped to tall peaks with the Braun lead to so many other things. )
Oh, yeah, gun/non-gun stuff! The Tac 6s work great. Went through 9mm, .40cal, .45cal, 7.62N while able to carry on normal conversations and hear everything around me (except the BANG).

Got a Leatherman clone made by Winchester. Not bad, my only complaint is that the blades are gonna need a bit of work before they're sharp enough. It also came with a fixed blade that handles very nice.

Naughty naughty Skunk. No lockpit kits for non-locksmiths. You'll get busted for burglary tools. Now, the safest thing to do is to send them to a cop buddy. Psst. Johnny Guest here is LE and I'm sure he'll be happy with it. Either him or Matt, or Jeff White. ;)

Locksmithing is fascinating. If you get serious, get a piece of wood and mount the lock on it. That way you can practice your raking techniques. I'm no good myself but my uncle is pretty accomplished considering that he's only had a very informal lessons from a locksmith.

Lock picking is a fun and relaxing hobby - easy way to drop out of compute with the world for a few hours and let go of some stress. Lot of fun. Only done a little of it myself, but would like to get into it a little more.
Of course picking other peoples locks is far from relaxing and fun - like picking other peoples noses, no one appreciates it ;)

Tech Brute -- enjoy the book. It reminded me of an episode of "24" since the time frame is so compressed compared to his other books. There's a pretty memorable interrogation scene in that book, too.
Tamara -- that is an absolutely stunning CRKT knife. I'm going to look into one of those myself. Is it a semi-custom?
To answer the question.... clothes from my wife, some Camelbak cleaning gear, Ed Brown 1911 parts, an Eagle nylon wallet and AR15 discreet carrying case, and a book store gift certificate which I used to buy some Tom Clancy books and a book on US Rangers/Seals/Delta Force. And socks.
