I stumbled across this treasure trove of Colt related photos that are posted on Flickr which are all part of the Conecticut State Library's Photostream.

Be on the lookout for all of the experimental models.
Enjoy! :)

Of course you could start a thread entitled "Fancy Colt Photos Please" and Gunkwazy (Jeff) would post all his beauties. Some of which are prototypes and experimentals.

The one seen at the top in this image -

...is certainly curious. An anticipation of a sort of 'Bisley' style Hammer, and, all round, pretty elegent.

Yipes!

One Pot of Coffee, and, two hous later, I need to stand up and walk around and get some circulation in my caboose...

Lol...

Sure enjoyed the Images! And still lots more to go...

Great find. I did not know those pics existed. I went to the CT State Library a few years ago to see the Colt Collection and they wouldn't even let cell phones inside - no photos at all. The only gun you can touch in there is a Gatling gun.

Can you imagine what those guns in pic #8 are worth today?

Here's the original "Rampant Colt" that was on top of the blue onion dome in photo #13.

Cool Arcticap! Thanks for posting those links -- there are some interesting photos in there.
I liked the prototype 1860 Army with the fluted cylinder and hinged bullet ram, but many others were fascinating as well.

Those guys hired on right about if not before, when the Cap & Ball Revolvers were being phased out, and the Conversions were overlapping the Open-Tops onto the first SA Armys.

Wow...

Such a different 'World' in so many ways...
