COLLECTORS, BAH-HUMBUG! is it a one of a kind, yes. is it really worth $90,000.00? not in my book! you could buy 100 standard colt 1911's for that price. i would rather have $90,000.00 of guns that i can use, than have one 90k safe queen.

You get a lot more than just the gun, but it still wouldn't be worth it to me unless I could make a profit on it later.

This part is good too.

All proceeds from the auction of this historic firearm will benefit the programs to further the Hunting Heritage Trust's programs to further America's hunting and shooting sports heritage.

If a man were wealthy enough to afford such an item, that would make it worth it IMO.

I wonder what would happen if you tried to run a 250gr LRN with a compressed charge of IMR3031 through it?

Just thinking out loud.

Here's a related auction for people who are somewhat less rich, a matched set in .22 and .45 from Browning:

Hello friends and neighbors // I hope it goes to someone that would use it for EDC.

I have it on good authority that the leading bidder is Charles Schummer. He just says all those nasty things about guns to keep the biding low.

I found two things interesting in the auction.

One, that it comes with two magazines. Which seems a waste, as it is unlikely to ever be shot.

Two, that it cannot be sold in California.

What could Les Baer (or fill in your preference in gunsmiths here) make for 10% of that?

So you're saying my $100 bid isn't gonna win???? :cuss:

On a serious note, that does look like a sweet pistol. Wonder if it'll ever get a round put through it by the lucky bid winner.

how is it worth 90 grand?

Better hedging on a full auto something or another.

The same way the Sears and Roebuck Peacemaker is worth $1million. There's only one of them and that's all there will ever be.
Not saying I would pay it even if I could afford it, but I can see the intrigue. It has desireability and rarity, two big components of what makes something valuable.
