Anyone have anything from Springfield Armory?

(Rumor has it that they aren't doing anything for it.)

Say it ain't so....

Why do they insist on putting adjustable target sights on most of these? I realize that that is a "premium" feature, but it (for me) kills the look of a gun that will be a safe queen. That Colt with the ivory is my favorite.

The one of a kind Colt and Browning matched set are being sold on gunbroker. Last time I checked the Colt was 82K and the Browning was 10K. Surprisingly, I think my favorite has been the Kimber with the case hardened frame. Which is a SHOCK because I usually just think Kimber is okay and hate case hardened guns. The engraved Ed Brown is a close second place. IMHO the Les Baer while certainly will shoot well, lacks in the style department.

Very cool, Im not much of a 1911 fan but might have to pick one of these up just because. Any word on pricing?

Love the Kimber
BUT
Would rather see fixed sights and stag grips
That Frame is GORGEOUS

Le sigh. Are any of these going to be like, you know, affordable?

Engrave "1911 - 2011" on yours and voila! DIY bubba anniversary edition! :neener:

I thought they kind of "phoned it in" on the LB, in terms of aesthetics.

The Kimber is still my favorite for appearance. Yes! Fixed sights and stag grips would have been even better!

cool pics guys thanks!
The colts will have the year stamped on them and the engraved one is ok.
I did like the feel of the small browning 1911-22 as it was comfy and light.
Also I did like the colt double action 1911 also. very compact and nice looking. A little strong on the trigger pull but it was explained to me so its kinda ok.

Taurus has one in their 2011 catalog also. 2 actually... a "retro" one with engraving (probably stamped/laser) and a tarted-up "anniversary match" one that looks like their PT1911s.
http://www.taurususa.com/2011newcatalog/?catalog_page=9

The retro one says "custom forged ordnance grade steel frame"... the other says "strong ordnance grade steel frame" :scrutiny:

I thought about making this question it's own thread with a poll but since all the picsare in this one let's just write in our votes here.

WHICH ONE DO YOU GUYS THINK LOOKS THE BEST?

I am going to say (based just on aesthetics) the Kimber.

Its a tie as to the best looking for me

I'm more partial to the Browning with its engraving & gold inlays, but that engraved Ed Brown is much more my style. Elegantly engraved with a humble blue finish.
