Hi, I'm new here. I've been doing some searches, and found some of the info I was looking for but wanted some other opinions. I have been keeping my S&W M-66 2 1/2" as my bedside gun. I am concerned with over penetration as I live in an apt. Should I load my .357 with a frangible ammo like Glaser, or a rapid expanding HP like Cor Bon Powr Ball?
Thanks

Neither. Use Remington Golden Saber, 125 gr hollow points.

Did you search using the terms "frangible" or "glaser"?

Keep it to "title only", this is an endlessly revived topic and has been over-covered far too many times.

If you don't want polls or forum bickering, you can find ACTUAL TESTING ... Start with Brassfetcher and the "box o truth", they've both tested various frangible rounds for the claims of:
1 - frangible makes stopping wounds in flesh
...and...
2 - frangible doesn't retain dangerous kinetic energy after passing through common housing materials

(hint, the answer is "no" to #1 and "yes" to #2 ... frangibles for defense are a ripoff at best and flat-out fraud at worst)

You need to balance the consideration of overpenetration with effectively stopping the threat. I think rounds like Glaser and Magsafe are simple snake oil marketing and are not going to be as effective as a good JHP. I would personally be more concerned with failing to stop the threat than whether or not a round will penetrate a wall.

First result is a PDF of a brassfetcher test of a Glaser frangible ... good reading and good illustrations of lousy penetration in bare gelatin and amazingly ... AWESOME penetration after passing through a simulated interior wall!

Thank you for your input. I think I will stick with Powr Ball or another JHP.
