*Sigh*

Not that I have one, but some day hope to. I occasionally see pics of someone's backyard range and drool or pine away...

I thought it might be encouraging to the rest of us stuck in suburbia to see some home ranges, especially during the blah winter months when we are often stuck indoors (ok, reloading is a good thing to do during the winter).

Also include any lessons learned, ideas for construction, target setup etc.

Thanks for sharing with the rest of us poor slobs

When I was a young (poorish) city kid I said one day I'd have a place I could shoot on and land a plane on. I didn't get as much land as I wanted, but got enough.:)

Backyard pistol/22 fifty yard range. Been shooting at a lot of that steel since the early 1970's. It's nice to be able to grab a gun any time and plink for a while. I'm a big fan of lasers and gun mounted lights, so I get a good bit of low light practice here to.

115 yard rifle range about 300 yards from the house.

The bottom 52 yards. I enjoy standing and shooting small handguns (like S&W J Frames) at a couple 2x2 foot steel plates (the black target).

The range is a constant work in progress, so everything has to be movable so I can get the front end loader tractor to the berm.

It's nice to have a place where friends and their kids can shoot.

Know the local and state laws, if any, about shooting on your land.

You are responsible to see that no bullet leaves your land. So the backstop/berm must be such that it will stop whatever you shoot at it.

You are responsible to see that anyone that shoots on your range knows and follows the safety rules.

Use common sense.

Have fun.:)

If I could have a wish for all shooters, it would be that you could walk 30 feet from your house and legally, safely shoot.:)
