Ok, I love Surefire. But there was only one reason I wanted to visit the Surefire booth.

They plan to release quad-stack AR magazines. I apologize for my crappy photography, but I was kind of giddy while getting to handle these.

60 round magazine.

100 round magazine.

If the notion of a 60 round AR magazine that's only about an inch longer than a standard 30 rounder doesn't make you giddy, well, you're probably kind of lame.

These magazines may very well be a minor revolution for 3 gun competition.

While the mags themselves make me giddy like a schoolgirl, the prices sure don't... :(

We like these. Especially since they're still short enough to go prone.

We checked.

Exactly, which is why the price won't really impact whether they sell or not.

1) It's a game changer in 3 gun
2) It says "Surefire" on it.

That means expensive but it also nearly always means very high quality.

And really, you only need 1 anyway :)

just use a speed loader (http://www.google.com/search?q=maglula+sppedloader&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a#hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=FE6&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&&sa=X&ei=Ikg7Ta6xLYzksQP3xsiGAw&ved=0CB0QvwUoAQ&q=maglula+speedloader&spell=1&fp=8ce0e008a607e93d) problem solved.

Hmm, wonder how that follower works to go from fat to narrow without getting cross ways, would love to look at a cross section. Interesting. But, hey, if it causes McCarthy and Schumer to blow a gasket, buy two!

When will these be available? If they're shipping now, who has them in stock?

I seem to recall these being discussed a few months back, but didn't recall Surefire being mentioned as the manufacturer. As noted, they will be quite pricey but also be quality.

I have 100 round Beta-C mags and have been quite pleased with their operation, but 100 rounds of weight counts up. The bilateral snail drums are bulky. The 100 round SF mag would not add the bilateral bulk of the C mag, but still be a bit heavy and quite tall. I think the 60 round version would be a good, more ideal option

These will be a godsend for the IAR for the Marine grunts. anyone know how well they feed on full auto? I can see these finding their way into more than one mag holder in the field

Prices?

same as the 60 round from what I remember but just fatter. would like to see the insides like we said before and did not catch the MSR on it either. the only thing I asked them was if they will be selling them threw regular distributors and the answer I got was they are working on it.

I hope they work as I would love to get a few.

The 60rd. Surefire magazine is approx. 9" long. The 100rd. magazine is approx. 12" long. The two magazines are the same width.

Best I recall, the 60rd. magazine is going to retail for approx. $130. Don't recall the price on the 100rd.

Sadly, the Surefire rep wouldn't let me take one apart to photograph the internals. Big surprise. ;)

yep You are right on the length of them. The retail price from surefires own web site is $129 for the 60 round and $179 for the 100 round mag. they talk about it being the quad 4 stack type of mag kinda maybe on the same lines as magpul was talking about. sure fire reviews on them talk about them not taking a set on the springs because of the design and they plan on selling them to the military preloaded kinda like saw packs.

Not a bad price if they work.

Chris Rhines having a seizure, or trying it in rollover prone, or something. I think it was the first, but the second wasn't a terrible idea. ;)

StripLULA and rounds on stripper clips - works fine for me on 30 rounders, so should do the same on 60 and 100 round mags. I can fill a basic load of 7 (30 round) magazines in less than 5 minutes this way.
