found this gun today and checked it out:

44 mag. Ruger Redhawk, stainless, 5.5" barrel, original wood grips, $425.....cylinder is tight with no horizintal or vertical movement e.g. not loose, but overall the gun has been shot so the trigger is not as tight as if it was NIB.

Is this a good deal?

a little high. However, if you enjoy it as much as I like my 7.5"er, you will soon put more than that in ammo through it.

ok, thanks. I thought the 5.5" was a little more rare hence why I thought the price was fair

Ruger sug. retail on that is $949. Get the serial # and call Ruger. They will tell you exactly when it was made. Also check the cylinder faces for pits. Below is my Super RedHawk I purchased for that price! Two years ago. Had to change the Grip. The original did not cover the Trig guard enough and cut my middle finger every time fired.

I'd say that's a very fair price.

Not a bad price, I,ve got the 7.5 and guarantee that I put more than double that in reloaded ammo through it every year.
For years now I've had much more consideration for the cost of feeding my artillery than what the original purchase price is. The original laydown, although a good chunk of "cash on hand" money, over time becomes a lot less than the cost of feeding the beast once i get it home.

But they're worth it!:)

I'm debating to whether to snag it or not....I have the same exact gun in 41 mag so my only reason for picking up a 44 mag would be to have a better selection of ammo and availability (even Walmart carries 44 mag). I was told the 41 mag is snappier but the 44 is like a big push.

I say go for it. After looking locally for MONTHS for a 5 1/2", I went on gunbroker and found a pretty much as new sample for $500 shipped. Added another $15 for the transfer. I would have loved to have paid $425.......

I'm in the market for the 5.5" Redhawk 44, been looking for awhile actually. $425 seems like a good price to me. Where is it?

I just got through cleaning my 5.5" Redhawk. My late father bought it slightly used for $400 and that was several years ago.

I am picking it up on Monday.....I don't think the 44 mag will be a beast to tame, compared to my 41 mag.
