We don't import HK-33-styled(.223) parts kits?

Sure, it's a dumb question, but was just randomly skimming through a large book on the world's guns. The HK website has rifles which resemble Sig-Sauers, not so much the classic HKs depicted in books, and the evening news from around the world.
There must be some good reasons-other than political(?) or the lowest bidder-why so many countries choose HKs for SWAT, police, military.

There must not be any .223 rifles which are almost identical to the classic G-3 (.308/7.62) in the US, at least for civilian sportsmen. Am curious because .223, if interchangeable with 5.56 as with Mini 14s, is so much cheaper with steel-cased Russian ammo than our .308.

If such rifles were available, and assembled by a trustworthy company, they probably would cost a lot more than the generic CETME "G-3s", imported/assembled by Century Arms.
The PTRs (and Imbel FALs, M-1As), along with the ammo are out of my desired price range for plinking rifles, and despite the HK's odd charging handle, really like the no-nonsense styles, whether used by the GSG (Grenzschutzgruppe) commandos to rescue Lufthansa passengers in Mogadishu ('77?), or in the hands of US SWAT troops etc.

Century imports/has imported them, and mangles them into "C93 Sporters"

like this one? (http://www.jgsales.com/product_info.php/rifles/fal,-hk,-cetme-clones/p/century-c93-sporter-5-56-223,-h-k-93-style-clone/cPath/209_432/products_id/3447)

FWIW, I have several Century rifles, and I consider them to be the used car of the gun world. They're inexpensive, but be prepared for a little fiddling, and some fixing. And like any used car you could get completely hosed in the deal. Inspect first, know what you're looking at, and be willing to fix any issues and you can get a neat gun for a good price.

HK33 kits are very common right now.

Century imported 10,000+ kits (I have read some large numbers).

Here is a one. Just need barrel, receiver and 922r parts and off you go.

There are other vendors that sell similar kits for $399 with barrel. Look around a bit.
