What calibers can the 8mm Mauser be rebarreled for without changing the bolt?
And what calibers do you have to change the bolt and barrel for?
What is invovled in each?
And lastly is there any conversions possible with a Mosin or does that rimmed cartridge lock you into 7.62x54R?
I'm just full of questions today aren't I?

A bunch of them and if you count wildcats a whole bunch more.:D

Nagants I don't know about 100% but at one time I thought about doing one in .45-70.
However I droped the idea over concerns about getting the rounds to feed properly from the magazine.

The EASIEST would be the variants of the x57 family:
22/6mm
257 roberts
6.5x57
7x57
The '06 family should fit fine on that bolt face
22 Cheetah
243
25'06
260 Remington
270
280
30'06
8mm'06(just ream the barrel)
338'06
358 Winchester
35 Whelen
The Savage Family would probably be ok without too much fuss.
22-250
250 savage
300 Savage
I'm sure I missed a few dozen.

An 8mm Mauser can be rebarreled to a .30-06 or a .308 or anything based on those cases without requiring bolt modifications. Depending on the choice, you may or may not need to work on the mag and/or receiver rails to get it to feed properly.
If money was no object, you could get the M98 modified into almost anything that would fit into the action.

I think that the Mosin Nagant is a great shooter in the original and very cheap-to-shoot caliber but rebarreling it into anything else would cost WAY more than the finished gun would be worth.
