Hi,

Have an opportunity to purchase this NIB 3" .44 mag for $900 shipped. Is this a good value? Anyone have any experience with this wheel gun? I've included a couple of pics.
Thanks

If you do some shopping, you'll find one, sans lock, for a bit less money.

$900 for a fixed sighted .44 magnum?

There are plenty of better deals out there for better versions of the basic gun.

Thanks guys. Are we talking about the PC model with ported barrel like this one? Build in 2006, NIB. He is willing to go down to $850 shipped. I don't mind the IL. What say you? I also prefer the fixed sights. It will be a winter carry gun. Thanks

I just bought a new 3" 586 ported Performance Center .357 for just over a grand and never looked back. My belief is if it makes you happy buy it. A hundred bucks one way or another is really not important. We are dead a long time. There is a lot of pride in ownership that comes with a PC gun. They should hold their value. The lock issue is a pile of BS to me.
Let us know what you decide.

Thanks, owner states it is an all Stainless Steel gun except for the satin chromed hammer & trigger. Would that be a plus? I also saw the same model on gunsamerica listed for $1399. WOW!

Yes, it is worth the asking price for the PC version I love all the folks who tell you everything is overpriced, but can't point you to the same gun currently for sale for their drastically lower prices. Buy it. Dave

I am not all that familiar with all S&W models. You may jump over to their forum and ask one of the pro's over there. It may make you a little more comfortable. To me it sounds like you have mentally bought the gun. Enjoy it.

If you like it and want it that much, buy it.

If not pass on it. You will have a hard time getting your money out of it should you sell it, as it has that lock.

Don't take my word for it, observe Gunbroker. It's clogged with IL revolvers that sit there and are relisted over and over......

Strange how S&W continues to sell tens of thousands of revolvers every year even with the ISL. I doubt that would have continued for the past 10 years if it was an overwhelming problem.

Well, I lost that sale. Gun ended up selling for $930 with shipping. Maybe I'll check out S&W's new PC line of 2.625" snubbies.

Go for it and don't look back. I love my 4" 629, it sports CT laser grips and is loaded with Cor Bon 165 gr. JHPS that I've chronographed at 1300 fps. I think it'd be a really decent stopper.
