Is the Bond Arms .45/410 3in a good carry gun?

I've owned Bond derringers. They are strong, heavy, well made toys. I wouldn't consider one for serious carry. Problem is that they are rather difficult to cock and the trigger pull is very heavy. That would make it a slow gun to get into action and once in action the trigger wouldn't help accuracy at much greater than arms length. Another consideration is that using defensive ammunition, the gun would be very difficult to control and a second shot would be mighty slow in coming. Finally, you have only two shots. Why settle for two when you could have 5 to 10 and less weight?

I bought my Bond to use in Cowboy side matches. It is great for that function. If you have rats in the barn, it might be useful. If your wood lot is infested with rattlesnakes, it would be a comfort. But for defensive carry, not so much. YMMV.

For what they weight along with the cost and try'n to cock it fast i would pass on them. If they had a DA trigger for the cost i would rate better to me. I will just carry a keltec 9mm or a glock 27 i have.

Heavy is the operative word. ;)

I wouldn't carry one. Very heavy, only two shots, and the hammers really are not the easiest to cock back with one hand in my opinion.

They are very nice and very well made guns. Just not good for carry.

I have carried my c2k on ankle and pocket with holster, but it is heavy. The cross draw on belt is the best. I do feel comfortable shooting it with extended grip.it's always in my truck and in winter time ends up in my map pocket in my jacket.have a 357 barrel as well but 410/45 is primary.if it's your only choice there are better ones, but if your comfortable with any gun it's a good choice. Good shooting...

The Bond is the best made derringer of the three primary makers in the country today, but its large size, heavy weight, limited capacity, and slow firing operation (and slow reloading) remove it from consideration for me as a primary carry pistol for regular use.

Great snake gun, adequate backup to a full-sized .45 in the wilds, OK.
Normal everyday carry for protective purposes- there are better choices.

Yeah, pretty much what everyone else has said: good, solid made guns - but there are better choices for CCW.

I love mine. It's fun to shoot. But for carry? Nope.

I've got the Bond in 45ACP and .357.
Interesting and fun to shoot but it's awkward to use. Requires practice to hit reliably with it.

I wouldn't want someone sticking one in my face but there are much better choices for a carry gun.
