Well, there's the USMC mil-surp's & Turner. I've got a couple of Turner's & will probably get a couple more in time. The USMC's are hard to get around here, it's an air force kinda town.

I've got several Turner's, and am very happy with them. Some of the highpower guys here recommend Les Tam over Turner. Frankly, they've got a lot more experience, and I tend to trust them.

Tag,
Turners are excellent. Lot's of Highpower competitors use them.
In my humble opinion, Les Tam's are better. I own 2-3 of his and love them.
Now... both of those are genuine 1907 type leather.... and I don't know of any other 1907 leathers that even come close to their quality.... BUT If you are not a true traditionalist and look more for competitive edge in the functionality department... consider the Turner Biothane synthetic 1907 sling.
The biothane is now legal for use in NRA and CMP events and for a solid, no slip EVER !!!!, and no stretch EVER!!! 1907 sling you've gotta' give it a try.
I picked one up a few months back as a prize in a JCG match. Tried it. I LIKE it. I'm sold. :D
Best,

Springfield Armory makes a nice 11/4" leather sling. Not spendy, good quality - good heavy leather (no whip marks), high quality hardware, durable stitching.

I own one of SA's 1907 leather slings...... It came as part of the "loaded" package with my M1-A.
There is no comparison between the SA 1907 sling and one from Turner or Les Tam.
The SA leather is thinner. The keepers are Pure D Crap. They are of leather too thin to properly grip the straps to prevent slippage while in position. The keepers are "butt stitched" instead of being "lap stitched", the threads appear as if they could pull through the leather at any moment when under tension.
As a carrying strap the SA is a viable 1907 sling. As something to support solid positions as a 1907 was designed to do, the SA sling does not hold a candle to the Turner or Tam.
Just my opinion,

Thanks alot guys,
I'd be throwing it on a Winchester 70... which brings me to my next question: Would that be possible? Do I need specal hardware?
I've got a nice Uncle mikes sling at present, but those turner/tam slings just make me drool :D
I am very interested in the tactical interventions also, looks neat.
thanks again.

There's no real problem putting a 1907 type sling on your model 70. All you need is a set of 1.25" sling swivels. Go to: www.turnerslings.com, FAQ's and you'll find a nice little 'how to' for use & attachment.
