Safe is Safe?

Pretty new to the sight and thought I would share my most recent purchase.
I have been on the look out for a new safe. I had the Liberty safe that was "too good of a deal" to pass up. Well after seeing how quickly two bag guys can pry or cut open one of these RSC's I was wanting something much better. There is a local safe store "Rogue Safe Company" that I looked at and after realizing 2k is just a drop in the bucket when looking at a safe that might actually keep the bad guys out for more than two minutes. I hit craigslist and started searching. Well here you have it, a data safe. It is designed to keep most of the bad guys out but it has a TREMENDOUS fire rating. In case of fire most any fire rated gun safe has to keep the inside temp to 350 degrees for a certain amount of time, 30, 45, 60 minutes. This thing will keep the inside temp under 150 degrees for 4 hours!!! I did not think about hitting the scales while I had it on the trailer but the guy said 4900 lbs. I do know that rolling it across the shop floor was leaving tracks because of the dirt on the wheels so it does have some weight to it. The draw backs to a safe like this. I'll need a forklift to place it. 10 inch thick walls take up much of the inside space. I cannot hide it!

I'd need a different house for something like that........Nice score, though.

Sweet Moses! Hope you planned a way to get that inside.:what:

Check out the prices of the safes used to secure classified material. I have two motorcycles that when their purchase prices are combined, don't make up the cost of one small safe.

Here's mine. (http://surferjerry.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/federal-reserve-vault.jpg)

Took three guys to get it up to my second floor bathroom.

I figured, "Who would look in a bathroom for a gun safe?"

Terry, Love that safe, but where do you go potty?

As far as having a plan to get it where I want it, No. My Wife asked me the same thing. I do know that no floor in the house will hold it so it will stay on concrete. Where I hope to put it has an opening height of 83", the safe is 83". Should be interesting to say the least.

Hope you have some bacon fat there, bruzer.

If you need some, I go through lots of bacon down here, so for the price of me drooling, you can have all the fat you need.:p

We wanted to see your safe, not your "safe room".

Are you sure you can get 2 BB guns and a pistol in that thing?

At least you can do all your reloading and gun smithing in a safe area lol.

No kidding. Add some lights and an air conditioner and you could move into that thing :)

It is only a little bit smaller than the dorm room I lived in with one other person my first two years of school.:D

I assume no one, but it will probably be noticed by the people looking for your prescription drugs.

My old safe was the Centurion Model. One of my biggest issue is the tools that I have. I have the tools that would make getting into my old safe so easy a caveman could do it. Now it could be said all I need to do is keep my tools away from the safe but unfortunately that would require an even bigger safe to store my tools in! The Rogue Safe Co. has a video that shows exactly how to get into the old safe too. http://www.roguesafe.com/promo.html Even if the BG's forgot their tools I have everything necessary to get the job done. At least this new safe should hold them out for awhile longer.

Ah...good. I aimed a little higher and got the National Security Magnum model. The Centurions never turned me on...metal so thin I could flex it just by pushing and pulling the handles.

I noticed Big5 had gun safes on their sales floor when I went in there yesterday. I'm not in the market for one, so all I did was "notice" them without actually looking it over. Didn't even notice the price, sorry.

ETA: I forgot to mention that they were also selling the new Ruger pellet rifle, if you want to look one of those over.

Since this popped back up on my radar, I'm curious how the installation go?

Or are you like me and things sit around for a while before you get around to working on them? (My car has been in need for a tune-up for about 3 months/400 miles:o)
