Does anyone know what the extractor on a Savage is made out of?

I was looking at a new Savage bolt action today, and I noticed that the extractor didn't match the rest of the gun. It is a copper color. Does anyone know what it is made out of. I was considering getting a Savage, but if they have gone over to the cheap side, I will go with a Rem 700 instead.
Thanks.

What would be the advantage of using anything other than steel?
Is this barium copper harder or better in anyway?
Is there any way to confirm this?
Thanks.

I think it's beryllium instead of barium.By it's self beryllium is easily worked, but brittle. That is why it is alloyed with copper. The tools Ihave are about 35 years old, still in good shape.

First you could check it with a magnet ,if it attracts it's steel if not probably beryllium copper. Beryllium copper has just small amounts of beryllium but it makes a very strong copper alloy which is very tough also.
