I am considering the following purchase:

Model 27-2 from 1975-76
Blue in very nice shape
non-original grips
3.5 inch barrel.

I want it as a shooter not as an investment.

Would appreciate a ballpark value.

Lou

300-400 or so. Add another 75 if the barrel is factory

If you can get it for 300-400, run do not walk and take cash.

If you get it for a couple hundred more you still ain't done too bad.

Realistically, $700 to $800 for a decent one.

I snagged these two for $1300 on the same day.

Not a question of "where", but "when"!

Haven't seen an operable Model 27 for $300-400 in some time.

I have a S&W 27-2, 3.5" barrel, blued finish in factory mahogany case with
unused tools, warranty card, S&W brochures for that time period, etc. This
weapon is in UNFIRED condition; and shows NO SIGN of a cylinder drag
mark. I was recently offered $900 cash dollars for it, and turned it down~!
It is not for sale, at any price~! ;) :D

The 3.5" version is the most popular and brings the most money. Replacement stocks hurt value a bit. No box or goodies, I would expect it to sell for around $700.

Please send me the name of your dealer. I'd like to buy all they have.

I'd say around $800 (probably closer to $900 where I live though).

When did these guns typically sell for $300-$400? A couple of Presidents ago?

4-5 years ago you could get 27-2s in the 300-450 price range, but those days are long gone, especially if it has a 3.5" barrel.

I believe some the the later 27-2s were not pinned and/or recessed, the earlier ones that are pineed & recessed are usually worth more money by a factor of $200 or so.

Also, it all depends upon where you are......

No box or goodies,

Holding the box and goodies under my arm while shooting really messes up my aim:neener:

I want a gun like this to shoot the poop out of it and then go back and do it again!

I purchased a mint 6" 27 a year ago and paid $575.00. The price seemed pretty fair at the time.

A 3.5 at $600 or less? I'd snap that one for sure. I would consider going to $700 if it was fine.
