Saw this on another forum, thought I'd share it with you. Never heard of the guy, but he has some interesting tips on stress-reloading with revolvers.

Mas has been around a long time and contributed a lot to training and shooting techniques. As I understand it, he did an exhaustive study of shootings including a lot of interviews back in the 70s and early 80's and came up with a new set of techniques which could be used more easily under stress. I was just practicing his punch-fire single hand technique over the weekend. Works! I still use the FBI reload a lot, but swap out to his method as the revolver gets hotter. I think one key with wheelguns is to know and be familiar with all the various reload methods so you can use whatever you need to. Even old-fashioned indexing and reloading by hand, one or two at a time, with your eyes off the revolver and towards the threat. Those strange indentations in the cylinder actually have a purpose, as it turns out.

If you have any questions about his technique, he's a member here so you can send him a Private Message and ask them.

Mas is a feisty booger...I have known him for quite a few years and always try to get up to see him when he is in the area. He not only knows more about shooting under stress than most folks I know, he can walk the walk as well with a number of combat shooting championships under his belt. Mas is longer associated with LFI, the company he ran and taught under for many years. His new training school is the Massad Ayoob Group ( http://massadayoobgroup.com/ ) Lethal Force Institute is no longer a viable concern. His books are great sources of information and are well worth reading if you can't attend one of his courses.

I have always respected his writings, and think I might have met him once. He looks exactly like a local DJ here in Albuquerque Named Bobby Boxx, well Bobby USE to look like Mas! I think Bobby Boxx is now like 80! Mr Ayoob, did you ever go to Gunsite when Rich Gee owned it?

Mas does think things to death, but thinking isn't such a bad thing. I understand he is running a course in-state this fall, and wouldn't mind taking it if I can scratch up the bucks.
He's been around a long time, and he certainly has my respect, even if he seems to worry too much.

I watched his "Shoot to Live" video that had been uploaded to YouTube and found it very informative. Just last night I ordered his concealed carry book, can't remember the title. Looking forward to getting it in the mail. He seems to really know what he's talking about, which is a rare find, especially on a place like YouTube.

Massad Ayoob is one of my heros! I have most of his books, and I'd love to be able to meet him some day.

I have signed up for his Level 1 class being offered by Seattle-based Firearms Academy. Four days of intensive training and shooting. My neighbor took it last summer and was extremely impressed. I'm really looking forward to it. I've been shooting for 45 years and seriously shooting combat handguns for 35 years. That means that I know how much I still need to learn and I consider Massad Ayoob to be one of the best people to provide that learning.
