Moving from Unique to Power Pistol

Hey all,

I have a Glock34 with a 13lb spring I use for USPSA. Right now loading 9mm with 124g FMJ 5.0g of Unique, PMC SP, and OAL 1.14

I'd like to mimic that load with Power Pistol because it's a bit cleaner and easier to meter. (I like flash too...). Burn rate wise, PP is two steps down from Unique. Thinking about 5.2g would do it. Seeking minor PF. I have a chrono to validate.

I have some 115g loaded at PP 6.5g - all I can say is FLASH/BLAMMO!

Thoughts?

Definitely won't be soft shooting, but you should have no trouble making PF with PP, even if you are using 115's.

Don't shoot competition with a 9mm, but really like PowerPistol for my 9mm reloads using 115 or 124 gr. jacketed bullets. LM

I use 5 grains of PP for my Glock 26 when loading a 124 grain FMJ. 5.2 will give you more horsepower, maybe more than you need. Try both loads and see what works the best.

Should be about right for the same velocity as your Unique load. Both are relatively light loads at about 20% below maximum (10% below start).

If you like the ammo you get with Unique but want something that will meter better and is cleaner take a good hard look at Universal. It's almost a ballistic twin to Unique but cleaner.

I usually agree with ArchAngelCD, and read his posts with interest, but this time I have to disagree.

While Universal is cleaner than Unique, Universal is faster than Unique, and is less forgiving than Unique when approaching max pressure. It can get a bit "spiky" there. No reason not to use Universal. I like it and use it. I also like and use Unique, but in different applications.
