Ah...just got back from England last Friday. Went straight to the gunstore Monday evening and ordered a Bushy Varminter. Got an incredible price on it ($970), but I know the guys at that particular store very well.

I just got finished cleaning up the factory oil and relubing it. Just thought I'd post that I finally got an AR, and I think, for the money, the Varminter is very tough to beat!

Tomorrow I'm going scope shopping. Then I'll just have to wait for this deep freeze weather crap to pass through so I can get to the range...

Anyone here have one and done some shooting and reloading for it yet?

Congrats on a great rifle, my friend! You're gonna love your Bushy.

I don't know what you have in mind for a scope, but you couldn't go wrong with a Nikon or Leupold 6.5-20X50 on a rig like that.
Or if you're into fixed power, a quality 10X56 would let you take advantage of your rifle's inherent accuracy as well.

ENJOY!

I don't know. There are a few heavy barrelled bolt guns for a lot less that will group as well, if not better.

[Don't get me wrong, I have Bushy's CMP gun and a DPMS Extreme configured for varmint hunting.]

I meant hard to beat in nice accurized AR's. :D But, yeah, actually, a friend has a very nice Remington 700 in .223 that I plan on utilizing as a handload benchmarker.

Yes you can beat it, we're talking off the shelf semi-autos right? A good Remington bolt action varminter will give a dime size group at 100, but that's apples & bananas & mangos.

Gary,

I've only seen two Varmint grade Bushmasters shot for group size, so i can't speak for all of them.

These two belong to a good friend and his wife. (How about "his and hers" Bushys?)

With his handloads, Sierra bullets, don't know which weight, he as able to get dime size five shot groups consistently with both rifles. BTW: both are stock, as they came from Bushmaster.

From what I've seen over the last 10 years or so, out of the box semiautos are now just as accurate as out of the box bolt actions.
