Has anyone ever participated in this. I was looking into it from when i get back from afghanistan. I shoot a 241 now with an M4, just wondering if anyone here has had experience in this and how it was. I am kind of curious as to which weapon is used, if it is your units T/O weapon, or if you are provided with a match grade weapon.

If you talking about rifle/pistol shoots where each unit forms a team and the good ones can work their way up to the national matches, then it is stock armory weapons. Typically the team leadership will go through the racks and hand pick the good ones. Now, if you make it to divisional or higher, I don't know if they start using different rifles with some better features.

I figured they would use stock weapons. Ive tried finding answers and have never known anyone that went on these competition. How do they work, is there tryouts, and if your accepted then you go to divisional? Ive got the order but sometimes there is alot of vague writing in those, so thats why i figured i would ask to see if someone knew in person, its described better usually.

Not sure. Every year I was asked to go my CO would deny my availability due to operational necessity. I was an armorer and we didn't have enough of me. So, I got to assist in selecting the rifles and pistols. Nobody in my unit ever did well enough to advance.
