I posted earlier on my Seecamp .32 that i bought. I was wondering about the holster (trigger finger cutout) Pull straight outta the pocket and shoot !
I have seen them for the older High Standard Derringers and i think i read they have them for the Seecamps ? At one point in time, i herd they were illegal ? Does anybody have any current information on these holsters?

I use a Smart Carry for mine. Worn one everyday for a number of years now. Its the most versatile and comfortable holster Ive used. You can wear it with sweat pants or a swim suit and no shirt if you want.

I was always leery of those wallet type holsters with the autos. I can maybe see one with an old High Standard two shot with no moving parts, but they always seemed shaky with anything else.

There have been a few threads recently about pocket holsters that are intended to stay on the gun when drawing and firing.

The problem is that the BATFE has considered some versions to be a form of "wallet holster" that intentionally disguises the firearm as something else (like a pen gun, cane gun, or cell-phone gun), thus making it an "Any Other Weapon", which is one of the types of NFA Title II regulated weapons (along with machine guns, silencers, etc).

The good news is that there is a current tech-branch letter that indicates that such a holster that does not cover the slide itself does not disguise the gun and therefore would be legal.

How's that for drawing a "fine line?" :rolleyes:

This type, which covers the slide all the way to the top except for what appears to be a cutout for the ejection port (some models didn't even have that), would be the AOW:

This type, which leaves the slide exposed and does not try to disguise the gun inside, is OK.

Some of the older style wallet holsters, depending on the gun, could actually be damaged or destroyed in live fire, so there was no way to practice shooting with them.

I use a DeSantis Nemesis for m LWS .380 pocket carry.

Personally I like the Hedley better and need to buy one. They are spoken of highly on the Seecamp Forum.

I might mention in passing ;) that I can't see any practical utility for a holster that remains attached to the gun. Pocket guns are already difficult enough to hold on to without the added complication (displayed prominently in the second photo), and it is simply not that difficult to draw from a decently sized pants pocket and a properly designed holster that stays in the pocket.
