Leaving Texas heading for Tennessee at least for awhile. n:)I will be staying at a hotel for a spell then transitioning to an apartment. Don't expect to purchase until I make it official and get a Tennessee drivers license.

What are my options there can I bring my handgun there if I stay at an extended stay hotel? Can I go to range? Would I be breaking any laws?

I don't keep a firearm in my vehicle but are the laws any different than Texas in Tennessee?

Spelling ain't my stong suit hope I spelled Tennessee right.:D

I have made the trip to Texas on a work assignment. Tennesse honors most all states ccw. Check out Handgunlaw.com, NRA-ILA, Tennessee Firearms Association. You didn't say where you'd be located in Tn. There are ranges, your hotel room is your home so having a gun there is not a problem. The laws of Tn are similar to those of Tx. Check out the laws. Just don't do anything to call attention to yourself or the gun, and you should be good to go.

Welcome Joe. If you have a Texas CCW this page (http://www.tn.gov/safety/handgun/reciprocity.htm) should have some useful information.

When you get here, drop by Coal Creek Armory in West Knoxville. They have a good pistol range.

One thing to be on the lookout in Tennessee is that in some counties carrying in parks is illegal. I don't know of a good reference as to which counties it is illegal or not so I would contact the local police and ask them once I got there.

Carrying is prohibited in Knoxville parks. Now I understand carrying in Knox County parks may be OK. Most of the parks around here are city parks. Also, most nearby cities and counties, too. They are supposed to post signs to tell you which parks don't allow guns.

Handgun Carry Permit holders can carry in state parks... just don't shoot any furry creatures. I'm not sure if out of state permits are honored in parks, but they probably are. Check on that. (If I were you I would check on everything you you read here.)
