Good IWB for Ruger SR9c?

February 17, 2011, 04:00 PM
I've had my SR9c for a while now, and absolutely love it. I can't wait to carry it, but can't decide on a holster. Given the slim profile of the gun, I'd like to use an IWB holster when wearing jeans and t-shirt. Good SR9c holsters in general seem a little hard to find, I don't know if maybe it's because they're relatively new? Anyway, I was looking at several of the High Noon and Crossbreed models. I've also heard that some Glock 36 holsters will work with the 9c. Any suggestions/thoughts on SR9c IWB?

Thanks guys!

In addition to the ones you're already looking at, look at the Comp-Tac Minotaur.

I've got a Don Humme no. 36-1" it works great, its made for a compact glock series but thr ruger falls in and draws easily, i couldn't be happier and it won't break the bank.

You might check out Kholster-I think he make one for it.

Here's where I get my holsters made by Triple K:

I've been happy with a simple Uncle Mikes IWB. The material is thin and grippy on the outside so it stays put. Low price helps too.

You may also try looking at holsters for an Officers model 1911. The two are very similar in dimensions.

Uncle mikes # 15 is what I use. $15 at Academy.

+1 to High Noon, I have the Bare Asset and Down Under and love them both.

I think I'm leaning toward a tuckable High Noon for now, but I'm sure my holster journey won't end there. =)

Thanks guys

Try the Remora, no clip IWB. Put it in your waistband and it stays where you put it. Also the fact that does not have a clip means that belt loops won't get in the way, you can put it anywhere you want. Works good strong side or cross draw. They make a magazine carrier out of the same material also. Great product!!

You must have a drawer full of old holsters like the rest of us LOL. Hume holsters are very well made...for IWB I like kydex,in particular Grandfather Oaks. In hot weather kydex doesn't transfer moisture and get sticky.

I agree with #9 but mine is a Split Decision for $35. You can tuck your shirt between the holster and belt clip and have the undershirt underneath.

I can't recommended the Crossbread Supertuck enough. I have been wearing one with my Glock 23 for over a year now, about 10 hrs a day, 6 or 7 days a week. Very comfortable and concealed. I never actually tuck the way they intend, just wear a shirt that covers it.

+1 on the Comp-Tac MTAC. Great company to deal with and fast production.

I carry my SR9c in a Desantis Sof-Tuc for a Glock 19. Works great from 12 to 6 o'clock position

Just ordered a High Noon Public Secret. I thought about a tuckable IWB, but I work at a bank operations center (no CCW allowed), and at work is really the only time I ever tuck a shirt in. As inexpensive as the Split Decision is, though, ($36) I may pick one of those up down the road. I am still intruiged by the Remora 'clipless' design, but they seem hard to get ahold of, since you have to find a dealer. Like I said, I'm sure my holster journey will continue...perhaps holsters are like guns, you never really 'arrive.' Thanks for all the help, fellas.

March 18, 2011, 11:31 AM Definitely worth a look. They are pretty simple leather holsters, but they are affordable. I have used a couple different ones and they work very well. They are very good at keeping the firearm close to your body. Much better concealment than my crossbreed.

Great guy to deal with and ususally a quick turnaround time.

I would think and Uncle Mike's would be enough. They're comfortable and cheap. A Comp-Tac Minotaur is a good, comfortable holster too. Spendy, but comfortable and you can change out the kydex portion for different pistols.

Carry mine in a crossbreed supertuck. Love it.
