I'd like to hear about, and love to see some pictures, of any modifications you've done to your clothing to facilitate carry of a gun.

I have to wear a lab coat at work, and I recently cut off all the buttons, sewed them to the front, and then sewed snaps onto the back of the lapels. Looks just the same from the front, but I can quickly and easily rip it open to access my pistol.

Not a modification, really, just a style note: All my dress shirts are Western-Style. That is to say, instead of buttons, they have snaps. So, I can just grab the front of my lab coat, and the shirt underneath, and yank, and they pop right open, allowing access to my pistol. (I carry IWB Appendix.) Very quick, very slick, and no damage to clothing to practice. :)

I'd in the market right now for a new suit jacket, and I'd like to have it tailored. Specifically, I'd like to have the waistline taken in (Darted, I think they call this?) However, I don't want to create a situation where the gun is then more obvious. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

How do you approach the issue with a tailor? Do you mention the gun, or explain what you're trying to do, or keep quiet and run the risk of them finding it themselves?

So, what have y'all done to keep it classy while making carry easy or comfy?

I just drop my Agent in my front pants pocket. No mods, necessary.

Sometimes I pocket carry my .38, but I found that doing so in the pants pocket under my lab coat was unacceptably slow, as I had to hunt for the slash on the side to reach my pants. Ripping through the front for my IWB pistol is much faster and more positive: No hunting involved.

I carry in front pocket or in my jacket pocket. No mods needed! I also buy one my jackets 1 size larger.

I told the tailor I was carrying and he fit the jacket and pants perfectly, they know what to do.
