I decided to use some of my state tax return money to buy a new gun today. After much searching I finally found the deal I was looking for. The shop wanted $489 for it but I was able to negotiate them down to $450 so I think I got a pretty good deal. This Walther P5 was born in 1983 according to the date code and other than a little wear to the edges of the frame it's in great shape.

The gun came with the original box, manual and two mags. I took it to the range after I bought it and put 100 rounds through it and had no issues with it at all.

They are a dream to fire...I know you hear this all the time on net about certain pistols have negligible recoil: this is one of them...Heavier than the P-1, but I can see why the W.German police used it so long in their inventory.
Good shooting to you...I paid a little more than you, so a good purchase on your part...Oh yes, they will hit what you aim at...:)

Congrats as well. A beautiful handgun,..and it should be an excellent shooter. I had occasion to shoot them a few times when working with some W. German Polizai types in 85-88 in Bavaria.....

$450 is an EXCELLENT deal for that gun. It's been hovering near the top of my want-list for a while, but it's darned hard for me to pay more than $500 for a gun, which P5's normally command. Enjoy it!

Congrats on the P5, I love mine. I paid $550 for mine years ago and thought that was a great deal.
Now you need a P88, P88 Compact, P99, P1 and PPS (if you don't already have them that is).

Nice looking nug. Always liked P-5s...just never got around to buying one. Excellent shooters, and they have that "way cool" look to them that few others do. Congrats on your great deal, and enjoy.

I stumbled into a P5 Compact last weekend for a price cheaper than I have seen them in a long time. I do need an extra mag or two. Anyone know a source for mags that are less than Earl's Repair? I'd even pay a finders fee. I need the late-style ones that work for both the heel AND the American style mag release (mag notched on the right side).
