New Glock Calibre?

Hello all, I was surfing around and found an article (then lost it!) by a gun writer named Dean Speir (sp?) who mentioned an new calibre from Glock.
Ready? It's a .......... .45 Short! To be possibly named the .45agc for the smallish 9mm/.40 frames.
YAWN!

Preacherman posted a thread about it over at TFL. It was in the semi auto forum IIRC.

Megga YAWN!!
IMHO, they should spent some of their dough designing a "new" Glock, one that doesn't look like a Glock..
It's time for something new and not just a rehash of what's already in there lineup..
Will they? Probably Not! :scrutiny:

I like my Glock 26 a whole lot, but there are enough calibers out there now to cover just about everything, so I hope they don't bring a new one out. Really, what the heck can a new caliber offer that the 9mm, .357 SIG, .40 S&W, 10mm, and the .45 ACP can't? That's easy--more sales! Count me out on this one.

Surely not? They have lost their minds. Let's see, how about the single stacks folks are wanting in the current caliber offerings? Last years Shot Show-wow a new box, oh yeah and an ugly light. This year? a Glock caliber. What are the supposed ballistics?

A castrated 45...
The 9mm vs 45 debate just got one-sided :D
Or shall we be debating .380 ACP vs 45G? ;)

Given Glocks recent track record, IF they do something like this, they will probably make it with a non-relaodable case or use a specialized primer that's not available.
I think Glock would be better off taking care of what they now offer and their [no pun intended] followers [sheeple].

Read Preacherman's post over on our beloved TFL-still a fantastic resource:) In thinking about it, may not be so bad of an idea. I guess ballistically it seems to be the original spec for the .45 by Thompson Lagarde if I am not mistaken, which called for 200 grains about 1000fps. But if it's still fat the length isn't the problem. Just use metal mags ala HK to get a slim grip-duh. Oh well. Kinda .41 AEish in theory.

Patience. We'll see.
But 200 grains at 1000 FPS isn't exactly a spitwad....

Since the 45 already operates at very low velocity, couldn't a smaller case at higher pressure generate similar velocities to the bigger case at low pressure?

Hmmm... If we find out Glocks new rounds have case wall thickness of 3x's normal at the 6 O'Clock position with a "THIS SIDE DOWN" engraved on it I'm gonna get nervous:uhoh:

A slower .45!?
No! Make a Glock 9x23mm and one in 7.65x25mm

Anybody reading Dean Spear ought to take some tutoring and move up to 6th-grade reading material.

More embracing the 41 AE; less 40 S&W / 45 ACP.

Seriously, you don't think Dean was making a joke, do you? About Glocks? Naaaahhhhhhhh. He wouldnt' do a thing like that . . . .

Glock is attempting to give the public (you guys) what you've asked for and embraced in the past: A larger caliber bullet that fits in a 9mm frame.
And you're acting surprised? This is just the next step beyond .40, and no more foolish.
There isn't any reason you couldn't get +P velocities with a smaller, well designed .45 case. The .45 ACP is a very old and low pressure design.
The question is, how well does a cartridge feed that is as long as it is wide and has a rebated rim?

They should do a necked down .45...
Wait there is already one in existence = the .40 super :D
