New Revolver How did i do?

Picked up a S&W Model 36 with a 3" barrel at a local Pawn shop. Gun is in about 95% condition paid $250.00 out the door. Was this a steal? Serial # is 921xx . What year was it made, Have not shot it yet but think this will be a great carry Piece. Thanks in advance for your help.

Dang, that is a great price if there is no letter prefix on the serial #. Would be an early 36 with no dash # if so, and a very nice gun. Does it even have the model # under the crane? With that serial # I wouldn't expect it ........

The model # is stamped where it should be , no letter prefix in seral # there is also G 36 stamped near the serial #. It is a square butt and on bottom of butt is stamped 49J62. I appreciate all the help,

That number on the bottom of the butt is the serial number. Just FYI

49J62XX should be the serial number I think........

The one on the bottom of the butt is the serial # for sure. The other # inside the crane was used to track the gun through assembly and keep the parts that had been fitted to each other together.
