SIMPLE QUESTION: If someone was going to give you a free Glock...

and you had to choose between Glock 20/29 OR Glock 21/30, which would you prefer? So, it is either .45 or 10mm, full or compact. If you already own one as first choice, explain along with your choice, etc. I thought it would be interesting to see what people would prefer if they got it for free. Myself, I have a Glock 20, reload 10mm and .45, but would love to have a pair of 20's. Two loaded 10mm's with 32 rounds ready to blow just seems right to me.

I would prefer a 9MM version as I would trade it for something I want. I figure a 9MM would be an easier sell.

You do not get a free 9mm. It has to be a 10 or 45. :D

I'd take the Glock 21.

I already have a couple of .45's and don't want to add another caliber right now, especially since I don't reload yet and I feel that's pretty much essential to get the most out of 10mm.

I'd go with the G21 over the G30 because I'm already set for a carry gun.

So where should I tell my FFL to send his license for my free gun?

Glock 21 SF

I would take the G30. I prefer 45 to 10mm. I think the 30 is a nice size for carrying.

I already have a Kimber .45 acp, so I'd definitely go for the 10mm full frame. I also have a S&W 10mm revolver and a lot of ammo, so I'd be good to go!

If I didn't already have a .45 acp it'd be a more difficult decision. Both are great rounds. I'd probably still go for the more powerful 10mm.

10mm .... because I never had one and the full size because i have 3 small pistols already.

20 here as well. I want to add a 10mm to my collection, and I think that I would want it in a fullsize to make it a little easier to control. If I had my choice of ANY Glock for free, I think that's what I'd pick.

Have both, love both full sizes. Would like another 10mm to go the Wolf long slide conversion way --- if it did not go well, still got my original pair.

A 21 would be a practical decision. But if I'm getting it for free, I figure the free-ness of it offsets the difference in costs for a couple of boxes of ammo. Glock 20 it is.

Actually a friend did give me a free Glock 17 and a couple years later a G26.

I kept each of them for a while and shot them a good bit. Then I gave them back. So my answer would be, none of the above.

I just don't like Glocks.:D

21 full frame.

Already have one, want a brace. Was waiting on a used one to wander by, but as long as you're handing them out.....

No interest in 10mm. Great round, just not for me.

Carried the 30 for a while. Wasn't comfortable for me to conceal. Excellent gun, though. Nearly as accurate as my 21.

Practical side says Glock 21 but.....

The kid in me says Glock 20 all the way. There's no comparison between 10mm & 45ACP. The numbers do not lie. Plus you can fit 2 more rounds in. That's some awesome power in a semi-auto.

I'd be all over a G20, but since I don't currently reload I wouldn't really be getting the best out of it so I chose the G21. I have big hands, so the size of the grip isn't an issue and I've been favorably impressed with the G30s and G36s that I've shot.

I already have a 20.

I really don't need another 10mm so the 29 is out and the 21 is the same as the 20 just a different caliber.

So I'd take a 30.

I would take the model my son doesn't own - he would be delighted.

I'll play I picked the 29 As I've owned 2 20 's probably would still have a 10mm if I reloaded And I'd take the smaller size this time around

I would take any of those listed, never look a gift Glock in the muzzle... no really, don't look it in the muzzle.

I've always wanted to get a 10mm pistol, and I don't really like the compact glocks... In fact, I think the 20 would be the only Glock that I would ever consider buying. I just think that the XDs are more comfortable to shoot. Now if only I could convince somebody to rework my XD 45 into a 10mm I would do it in a heartbeat!

While we're handing out free guns, any chance of getting one of those sweet little 10mm Sig P220s? :D

21 SF. It fits my hand (finally!) and it's a .45

I have one and used it to win my Division at a major match last year.

I also have a 20 and it's reserved for woods-walking, since I have to reload all the ammo it shoots.

If it were my choice of ANY Glock, I'd get a 4th Gen 35

February 21, 2011, 02:44 AM
Don't particularly like Glocks. Find the 'factory' grip a bit too slippery. Wouldn't want a 10mm. Ammo is expensive and not easy to get, up here. Glock mags run $50Cdn each too.

I'll take a Glock 30. I already have a 21, and I don't want to start loading another caliber.

20. Already have 21 and 30.

I'd take a Glock 21. I'd then take all the money I saved and spend it on a match barrel, since I have heaps of .45 ACP brass and bigger heaps of cast lead .45 caliber bullets.

Not too interested in the 10mm. I already have Ruger revolvers for shooting anything that I'd like to shoot at that power level.

Since I already have a M20 , M21 and a M29, I would go with the M30.

February 21, 2011, 11:45 AM
I'd go with the compact 10mm.

What the gun industry labels "compact" usually means "sized for you" in my case. "Fullsize" means "HAHAHA! PUNY GIRLY HANDS!"

I'd pick the 10mm, simply because I already have one (as well as plans for reloading it) while I have nothing in the way of .45. And little interest in it.

February 21, 2011, 12:15 PM
I would go with the 45 as I have arthritis in my wrist and a 10's
recoil hearts, but I can handle the 45' recoil just fine.

Never argue with an idiot. He'll drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.:p

I would pick the 21 since I've always wanted one, but the 20 would be close second.

SharpdressedMan, it seems like you've already made up your mind, and in your shoes, I'd be with you. Dual Wielding glock 20's would be hard to turn down!

I just thought it would be an interesting topic, to see what others would do. Some of you guys are cold hearted. :what: If a buddy gave you a Glock as a gift, would you really sell it and use the money for something else? Or, if you disliked Glocks enough, would you respectfully decline the gift?

I would take the 10mm large frame as I think the 10mm is an amazing round for whatever you come up against.

30SF for me. I'd use it as a truck gun. Whenever I get around to buying another handgun, it'll probably be a 30SF

My fav Glock is a Glock 17 RTF2

But, in those choices would be the G20 - always tempted to try a 10mm...

Which ever one is easiest to sell/trade. No real interest in Glocks, but if I were to get a Glock, it would be a full size 9mm.

Gotta go with the .45 over the 10mm.

Glock 21 is a BIG pistol, but I'd prefer it to all the others on the list.

I don't reload for or own a 10mm. Stubby Glocks are worse than full size Glocks in my mitt.

February 21, 2011, 08:38 PM

G20, mainly because I already own the G21.

G29. Back up gun for it's big sister the G20.

jon86
February 21, 2011, 10:29 PM
I would have a tough time choosing. I would want to shoot the 20 first, as I have never shot a 10mm. If I shoot the 20 well, I'd take it. If not, then the 21.

Tomcat47
February 21, 2011, 10:34 PM

I am already set up in .45 and have no need or interest in a niche round like 10mm.

RX-178
February 21, 2011, 11:21 PM
I'd get the 21. You can get a 10mm conversion barrel for the .45, but (to my knowledge) you can't get a .45 conversion barrel for the 10mm.

Yet...

If someone gave me a free Glock I would either throw it on the driveway and run over it with my tractor or shove C4 down the barrel and blow it to bits.

My husband felt the same way until someone offered to trade a G17 for a rifle stock we couldn't use (long story). Then we put a conversion device on Form 2, so now it's an "18". :neener:
